Bobby Flay continues to proudly celebrate his daughter Sophie.
On Wednesday, October 29, Sophie, 29, announced on Instagram that she has accepted a new job in New York as a correspondent for ABC News and night anchor for World News Now and GMA First Look.
“Thank you Los Angeles for 11 wonderful years!” she wrote of her previous job as a general assignment reporter at ABC7 in Los Angeles since March 2019.
“I couldn’t be more proud,” Bobby, 60, wrote in the comments section of the post. “Your work ethic and willingness to learn from your leaders has placed you in this great opportunity and important place. It’s a parent’s dream.”

This isn’t the first time the proud father has praised Sophie and her work ethic. He praised her reporting during the January 2025 Los Angeles fires.
“When the fire broke out, I got a lot of comments from literally hundreds of people saying how well she freestyled on the front lines of the fire,” he told PEOPLE in February. “She was wonderful.”
Bobbie said she downloaded the News Station app to see her updates.
“I watched it 24 hours a day. She didn’t sleep. I mean, it was crazy,” he added, “I was so proud of her, because most importantly, she was giving really important information to people who needed it…and she was really amazing. I was just like, ‘Who is this girl?’ ”
In January 2021, Bobby told PEOPLE that he was proud of Sophie “because she’s such a nice person,” along with her “amazing work ethic.”
“If you ask anyone who knew Sophie, they’ll go on and on about her. She’s a really sweet woman and incredibly inclusive,” he added.
“She has a cool side to her, she’s very intelligent, but she’s also a very inclusive person,” he said, adding, “She doesn’t want anyone to feel left out and she’s always thinking about things like that.”

At the time of the interview, Sophie was working at ABC7, and Bobby marveled at his daughter’s success and said what a “lucky dad” he was.
“I continue to be so proud to see Sophie achieve so much in her career,” Bobby said.
“I watch her face challenges in her own career. She’s basically done the same thing I did, but it was a lot of work,” he added. “So when she comes out with a story, my heart gets bigger because I think, ‘That’s amazing. This is my child.'”
