Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are taking increasingly independent paths in their careers. On October 29, a report in US Weekly highlighted a clear change, with sources saying the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are focusing on their individual strengths.
“It’s healthy for them to have separate spheres, identities and passion projects as a couple,” a source told the publication, adding that the intense media attention Meghan receives is “not helping Harry with his job.” The source added that the couple “will have very different opinions (professionally) from now on.”
For Meghan, the change was especially noticeable. Earlier this month, she made her Paris Fashion Week debut, sitting front row at Balenciaga’s spring 2026 show and supporting Pierpaolo Piccioli’s first collection as new creative director. The appearance marks her first big step into high fashion, following the premiere of the Netflix series “With Love, Meghan” in March and the launch of her lifestyle brand “As Ever” in April.
However, Us Weekly reports that the Archewell Foundation founders, who share sons Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, remain close personally and plan to collaborate on several joint projects that align with causes they care about. They will also continue to appear together at select events, as they did earlier this month when they received the Humanitarian Award at the Project Healthy Minds Gala in New York City.
Another source told Us Weekly that Meghan has Prince Harry’s full support. “He always thinks she’s doing the right thing.” The first source agreed, and said Prince Harry was happy that Meghan had found “something she’s passionate about.” He added, “This is her success in front of him, and he believes in the words ‘happy wife, happy life.'” He’s glad he doesn’t have to be involved in that world. ”
PR expert Jane Owen told Us Weekly that Meghan’s recent moves signal a “move into individuality.” Mark Borkowski, another PR specialist, said she is “re-emerging as a global, ambitious and strategically remote solo brand.” He added: “The royal chapter was about access to power. This time it’s about taking power back.”
Meghan recently said this was the “happiest” time of her life. Speaking at the Time 100 Summit in April, she said, “Today I want to confess to you that I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. And to have a partner and a husband who is so supportive, to have healthy children who are so happy about the free life and the safe life that we’ve created, I never… of all the things that have happened in my life, I would have never imagined that I would be here at this point.
