Nick Lachey is grateful to his wife Vanessa Lachey.
The Love Is Blind co-hosts sat down with PEOPLE in 10 earlier this month to discuss all things dating and relationships. At one point, they role-play being in a “pod” on the Netflix show, with the contestants getting to know each other from the other side of the wall that separates them.
“You probably ask why you want to settle down and get married,” says Vanessa, 44. “Why are you here?”

Nick pretended to be a participant and replied, “I haven’t found what I’m looking for in a dating venue, and I’m sure a bar or club can offer you more than that…”
“More than what people see on my Instagram,” Vanessa interjected, before Nick, 54, added, “Or my Tinder or something. I don’t know, is that right? I don’t want to say it’s wrong.”
The former Miss Teen USA then looked confused and quipped, “I don’t think you want to be on Tinder. Maybe.”
On the topic of online dating, Nick, who met Vanessa on the set of MTV’s TRL in 2006, admitted he was glad the app didn’t exist back then.
“Thank God we found each other before using dating apps, because I never had the chance,” he says. “This wasn’t just lip service. I really, truly believe that we were meant to end up together, because that’s largely how our relationship started. There were a lot of very long phone conversations in 2006 and questions like, ‘Where do you see yourself in 10 years? What are your dreams? What do you want out of life? What do you want in a relationship?'”
“We have so many common goals and I think our ethos is very closely aligned,” he continues.
Vanessa adds that they also have “the same sense of humor,” and Nick agrees.
“I just think we would have been drawn to each other,” he insists. “I mean, look, I obviously knew she was gorgeous. I’m not going to pretend I didn’t know what she looked like, but I think we would have found each other in the pod because our hearts are meant to be together. It would have worked.”

When the longtime couple first met, Vanessa was a host on TRL and Nick was a regular performer with his band 98 Degrees. At the time, Nick was still married to his first wife, Jessica Simpson, but they divorced in 2005.
Nick and Vanessa’s romance quickly turned serious after they started dating in 2006. In 2007, shortly after she moved in with her current husband, MTV Vee Jay announced that she would be leaving TRL.
The pair married in 2011 after a brief split two years ago and have since had three children together, sons Camden and Phoenix, and daughter Brooklyn.
