‘Outer Banks’ director Jonas Pate is accused of grabbing and screaming at a female production assistant as actors Chase Stokes and Madeline Cline intervened.
According to TMZ, the incident allegedly occurred while filming the fifth and final season of the Netflix series in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
Mr Pate, 55, is said to have shaken the female PA while screaming in her face, prompting Mr Stokes, who played John B on ‘The Outer Banks’, to jump in and separate the two.
The outlet reported that Klein, who plays John B’s girlfriend Sarah Cameron in the series, also stepped in to help defuse the situation.
Multiple production officials told the outlet that Pate’s alleged behavior was not “out of the ordinary.”
A source told TMZ, “The time has come to make it public.”
Page Six has reached out to Netflix, Pate, Klein and Stokes for comment.
Jonas co-created the show “Outer Banks” with Josh Pate and Shannon Burke, about a group of teens searching for treasure related to the disappearance of John B.’s father.
The first season premiered in 2020, and three more seasons followed in 2021, 2023, and 2024.
The show came under criticism after main character JJ, played by Rudy Pankow, was killed off in the season 4 finale.
However, Jonas defended the storyline, saying that JJ’s character was destined to die.
“It’s kind of in his DNA from the beginning. He’s a really tragic character, and he has ideas about mortality and time is limited. That’s also the theme of the show,” he told The Hollywood Reporter last November.
“This is something John B. has been talking about since the first season. So, believe it or not, this was always predetermined, and we just wanted to tell this story as elegantly and as interestingly as possible.”
The fifth and final season of “Outer Banks” is scheduled to be released in 2026.
