Vanessa Redgrave will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by Italy’s Turin Film Festival, and the Oscar-winning British actress will present the world premiere of her latest film, The Estate.

Directed and written by her son Carlo Nero, “The Estate” is a suspense drama starring Redgrave and her husband Franco Nero (“Django”). This is the story of the Wellesley family, an aristocratic family desperately trying to save their ancestral fortune due to unpayable debts.

Redgrave, who comes from a prestigious acting family, made her first starring role in Karel Reisz’s Morgan (1966), for which she won the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for a BAFTA and an Oscar. The following year, she returned to Cannes as Jane, the mysterious woman in the park, in Michelangelo Antonioni’s The Explosion.

Oscar nominations followed, and in 1969 she won the Best Actress Award again at the Cannes Film Festival for her role as Isadora Duncan in Reith’s Isadora, and in 1972 she won a special David Award at Italy’s David di Donatello Awards for her role in Charles Jarrott’s Mary Queen of Scots. She won an Oscar for her performance in Fred Zinnemann’s Julia (1978) and received further nominations for James Ivory’s The Bostonian (1985) and Howards End (1993). In 1994, she won the Volpi Cup in Venice for her role in James Gray’s Little Odessa.

“Being nominated for six Oscars makes you no longer one of the greatest actresses in the world, but a legend,” Giulio Base, Turin’s artistic director, said in a statement. He added: “Vanessa Redgrave is not only a theater and film icon, but also a dedicated activist.”

The 43rd Torino Games will be held in the northern Italian city of Turin from November 21st to 29th. The fest lineup will be announced on November 7th.
