Ten years after her debut, Gigi Hadid returned to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway tonight. She wore a Barbie pink lingerie set and a cape decorated with flowers. Hadid recently spoke about her first show and how tough the world is on her and other models.
Gigi Hadid spread her wings again for tonight’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The model wore a Barbie pink lingerie set with a winged cape decorated with dramatic flowers.
Her second look was all white and featured giant angel wings.
Hadid teased her return to the runway this morning by posting a shot of a packed lunch for her daughter Kai on her Instagram Story. “The morning of the VS show looks a little different now 😉 See you, New York.”
The star recently reflected on her fashion show debut 10 years ago in 2015. Booking this performance was not easy. “I went to see him many times, but he never contacted me,” she recalled. “I think I tried two or three times before I got it. So imagine what I felt when I got that first show.”
She cried as she remembered what happened that day. “I’m really happy for her. She just wanted it so much. I was thinking about that earlier today and looking back at photos from that time, the world was so hard on her. And it wasn’t just me. (It’s) hard on the girls, too.”
“And I look back at the pictures and think, ‘I was the worst. It was a great time. I deserved to be there.'” I keep coming back to this show, and I’m so happy for that girl who saw the first show and for my teenage self who just saw the show. Creating in this space was really fun and exciting. ”
She added that her heart was still pounding before she walked. “I feel a responsibility to do my best for the huge team behind this show. I think I’ve always been so inspired by VS, but it’s not what people think. It’s not just about lingerie and looking sexy. When I saw it, it was so much creativity and world-building and branding. It inspired me in so many ways.”
