Melania Trump just hinted that the White House will truly be in the Gilded Age this Christmas.
In an X post on Wednesday, President Donald Trump’s wife shared a five-second clip of herself placing an ornate gold-tone Christmas ornament painted with white flowers on a bed of golden leaves.
Her wedding ring (a tight row of what appeared to be emerald-cut diamonds) and her perfect pale pink manicure were on display as she gently placed clusters of small ornaments.
In her caption, Melania teased that this year’s White House holiday theme will be announced soon. “Christmas meeting at @WhiteHouse,” she wrote, along with a shining gold star emoji.
Followers expressed their enthusiasm for the upcoming release in the comment thread.
One person wrote, “I can’t wait to see what kind of decorations they’ll put up for Christmas this year. I’m sure it’ll be beautiful,” and another person commented, “I have a feeling it’s going to be a golden Christmas.”
A third X user joked: “I’m sure money won’t be a theme,” along with a winking emoji.
“It’s going to be stunningly beautiful and sophisticated, just like you,” chimed in a quarter.
Yet another enthused: “The Golden Age!!!”
The 55-year-old first lady has overseen multiple holiday seasons at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue during President Trump’s first term, but not all of her bold decorative choices have been universally praised.
After first lady Melania Trump unveiled a row of unadorned crimson Christmas trees lining the East Colonnade in 2018, dubbing the holiday aesthetic “American Treasure,” critics on social media slammed the controversial look, sparking comparisons to horror films such as “The Shining.”
Melania publicly fired back at the time. “We’re in the 21st century and everyone has different tastes,” she said during a panel discussion at Liberty University in November 2018, adding, “I think it’s great.”
“I encourage everyone to come and visit,” she continued. “It looks even more beautiful in person. Everyone is welcome to visit the White House, the nation’s home.”
