Taylor Swift opened up about her wedding plans with fiancé Travis Kelsey on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Now that the press tour is over, he revealed that he is ready to concentrate on his plans in earnest. Taylor Swift spoke with Kelsey about his recent proposal throughout the press tour for A Showgirl’s Life.
Taylor Swift capped off her Life of a Showgirls release week with a guest appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers tonight. The pop star, who has been sharing a lot about her fiancé Travis Kelce throughout this press tour, revealed a little more about their wedding celebrations and what they’ll be planning in earnest.
Host Seth Meyers expressed concern about the invitation to Swift and Kelsea’s pending wedding, explaining, “Because I think everyone has an expectation that you’re going to take it seriously. And I feel like I only allowed them to send you an e-invitation.”
Swift responded, “Well, I’m glad you brought this up because I haven’t even thought about this yet.”
Myers apologized for pushing another task to the top of Swift’s to-do list after what was already a busy season for Swift. Swift brushed it off, saying, “No! No, it’s fine! It’s almost the end of release week, so it seems like it’s time to start thinking about it.”
Swift spoke about the status of her wedding plans in multiple interviews last week. She revealed that she and Kelsey have already made some big decisions – such as the fact that they are planning to host a large destination wedding. But, as she recently told BBC Radio 2’s Scott Mills, “I’m doing one thing at a time. I’m doing this[press tour]right now. I don’t know[if I’m going to hire a wedding planner]. Right now I’m just excited about the idea of getting married to this person. So I’m going to think about that and then put this album out and then think about other things after that.”
Swift didn’t share much additional information about her relationship with Kelsey during her interview with Seth Meyers. Instead, she revealed that while Kelce was watching Swift’s Elas Tour performance from a VIP tent, they later had “tea” about celebrities interacting with Swift. Swift told Meyers an anecdote about Kelce mistaking Hugh Grant’s wife Anna Elisabeth Eberstein for Greta Gerwig on one of his shows.
Earlier this week, Swift told Ryan Seacrest that she’s still trying to figure out where to draw the line when it comes to what she’s publicly said about her relationship with Kelce.
Regarding Kelsey’s recent proposal in particular, she said, “We share so much of my relationship with the world that the moment it happens, it’s like, I’ll have it forever and it’ll always be mine. There’s so much that we share with the world…[because]we’re both very public people, and our career paths both involve entertaining people.”
Swift added that she and Kelsey acknowledge the public’s interest in their romance, but intentionally set boundaries on what they reveal. “We’re very relaxed about things in a way, but we have to. We have to find a way to make sure that there are just issues between us,” she said. “And thankfully, we have a lot of things like that. Those moments in particular will always be ours.”
The singer revealed details of Kelsey’s proposal during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday. Kelsey apparently asked the question shortly after recording an episode of New Heights (a podcast she shares with her brother Jason Kelsey) that featured Swift as a guest. While recording, his backyard was transformed into a secret garden perfect for the occasion.
“The podcast was kind of a distraction, a kind of ploy to keep me from looking out the window at home,” she said. “Every time he did a podcast, he didn’t make all the windows pitch black. He had blackout curtains on every window in the whole house. He was very secretive about this, which I really appreciated. But I realized later that he didn’t make all the windows pitch black every time he did a podcast. I was walking around nervously, and he said, “I really hope this is what you expected.” Because we were talking about doing a podcast and putting out an album. He was like, “My heart is racing.” I’ve never seen this guy nervous. He’s not a nervous person. ”
When the recording finished, “he said, ‘Do you want to walk around the backyard and have a glass of wine?'” Swift said. “And I think, ‘I’ve always wanted to do that.’ And then I realized why all the windows were curtained and why he was nervous. It was the best possible scenario.”
