Sabrina Carpenter spoke about her complicated views on men in an interview with Vogue Italia. “I think men were a very interesting species to look at in positive and negative ways,” she began.
Fresh from the release of the man’s best friend, Sabrina Carpenter is openly talking about how she sees men and why it’s been complicated these days. In an interview with Vogue Italia, the singer discussed the idea that women must train and why they leaned ironically on both onstage and off-stage.
“I think men are a very interesting species to watch,” Carpenter said. “In a positive and negative way. I feel really worshipped, inspired and loved by some of them…and I’ve been really confused, attacked and ridiculed by others.”
She said, “When one of my female friends announces that she has a son, I only rejoice that young boy because I know he will be raised correctly,” she laughs, “If I’m wrong, correct me, I’ve only been on Earth for 26 years, but I feel like we’ve always had to train them. Unfortunately, it’s a story as old as the times.”
Carpenter explained that he uses humor to share a more nuanced perspective. “Part of life is making us uncomfortable, or at least it’s about revealing moments to me, and it’s for me,” she said. “My life was just this humor, and it wasn’t even humor at all times. I think it was usually like it saved me. I was always there at the end of the day to make sure I was protecting myself for the future.”
The singer discussed staying true to herself in fame, and “I believe she has supported my strange brain. It’s the only way I can stay as authentic as possible in a world where I can lose it so easily.”
“My show can feel like I’m playing a character, but the one I’m talking to the audience is that I’m talking like I am,” she added. “What I did that day and how I felt about that day… that was the moment I continued to save for me.”
Carpenter admitted that this was the era of Flux for her. “I always feel like I’m a person who’s really changing… I feel that what I’m feeling in a month from today is very different.”
