Blake Lively is revisiting her Gossip Girl year. On Sunday, the actress shared a series of throwback photos on Instagram to celebrate the 18th anniversary of the show’s premiere.
“Summer Gossip Girl is now 18,” she wrote in the caption. “This show was my university. It was my education, my social life, my hard work, my late nights and early mornings, my teacher. New York City and Silver Cup Studio (and sometimes Paris✨) have been my campus for six years.
The slideshow included a set of cast-off screens and unusual behind-the-scenes shots from the moment. Lively appeared in multiple photos with Leighton Meester, highlighting the bond between the characters Serena and Blair. She also shared a playful image with Michel Trutchenberg, who passed away earlier this year as Georginas Parks.
Other photos show the vibrantness with Ed Westwick and Chase Crawford, along with a shot of Serena’s Gold Cotyrion Gown next to her co-star and ex-boyfriend Penn Bajrie.
Lively reflects the cultural impact of the show in recent years, particularly on fashion and beauty trends. Speaking to Elle in July while promoting her hair care brand Blake Brown, she recalled that the turbulent waves of her character Serena became one of the most demanding looks of the 2000s. “Part of the reason for its popularity may have been the familiarity and ease of being in someone’s home every week,” she said. “You can see people, characters, styles, appearances. People don’t do hair without clothes every day, so that was ambitious too. I certainly don’t do hair every day.”
