Kylie Jenner was worried that the “Met Gala curse” would affect her relationship with Timothée Chalamet.
A source exclusively told Page Six that the reality star, 28, “deliberately avoided” attending the Met Gala with the actor, 30, out of fear that the notorious superstition would jinx their romance.
“Kylie and Timothy have intentionally avoided attending the Met Gala together in recent years because they didn’t want to risk the ‘Met Gala curse,'” a source said.
“Kylie became especially superstitious after going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with Travis[Scott]in 2018 and 2019 before they finally broke up,” the source explained.
Jenner and Scott, 35, began dating in 2017. They welcomed daughter Stormi in early 2018, and added son Air to their family in February 2022. The couple broke up for good in January 2023.
Jenner’s sister Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson broke up in August 2022, just three months after they made headlines for climbing the iconic staircase at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Jenner, who was first rumored to be dating Chalamet in April 2023, “just didn’t want that kind of bad luck in their relationship and didn’t want to take any chances,” a source said.
Representatives for Jenner and Chalamet did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Chalamet skipped the Met Gala 2026 last week, letting his girlfriend join him for a solo performance on fashion’s biggest night.
Instead, the actor attended the New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers game at Madison Square Garden. Chalamet, a longtime Knicks fan, posted an Instagram Story showing off the courtside view.
The Knicks also posted a video of Chalamet hugging fellow Knicks fan Tracy Morgan during the game.
Meanwhile, Jenner wowed the crowd at the Met Gala in a stunning Schiaparelli dress. Her bejeweled look was covered in pearls with a highly embellished train, and the front dropped to reveal a nude illusion corset complete with fake nipples, belly button, and body contouring.
But Jenner and her family aren’t the only celebrities to fall victim to the so-called “Met Gala curse.”
Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx, who had been dating since 2013, broke up in late May 2019, just weeks after they showed off their romance on the Met Gala red carpet.
Similarly, Amanda Seyfried and Justin Long had been dating for two years when they made their Met Gala debut in May 2015, but they broke up just four months later.
As for Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, they only attended the Met Gala together once during their 10-year relationship, in May 2019, six months after they got married. In August of the same year, the two announced their divorce.
