Last summer, when Travis Kelsey placed a stunning old mine diamond on Taylor Swift’s finger, engagement rings with antique stones and engraved bands became popular and jeweler Kindred Lubeck became an overnight household name.
Now that the couple’s wedding is just around the corner, whichever designer is lucky enough to dress the “Love Story” songwriter for her big day is almost equally poised to “start a whole trend,” as Kleinfeld Bridal Merchandising Director Dorothy Silver told Page Six Style.
“Taylor is a megastar, and brides will want to emulate her style, just like Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber did when they got married,” Silver said, adding that she and the team at the New York wedding wear mecca predict the music icon will be “classic yet fashionable” in her choice of ceremony dress.
“When she walks down the aisle, it’s going to be a wonderful, timeless dress,” Silver said.
Many brides feel overwhelmed by the options when shopping for a wedding dress, but this isn’t the first time Swift has worn bridal whites.
“I always remember her music video for ‘I Bet You Think About Me,’ where she wore one of Kleinfeld’s designers, Nicole + Felicia. They created two dresses with cascading floral designs: a white wedding dress and a red version,” Kleinfeld’s bridal stylist Morgan McCullough said.
In 2021, the label’s Nicole and Felicia Chan told Page Six Style that the white dress is “an artistic interpretation of a wedding dress, with a design that is at once classic and imaginative,” and that the red “embodies the bold, vibrant spirit that Taylor has always had.”
McCullough said, “I think a lot about that dress of Taylor’s from her bridal days. It was soft and whimsical and feminine, but also very classic. I think she would do that.”
According to Kleinfeld’s stylist, the one thing Swift might skip when she says “I do”? Her signature Easter egg is at least an obvious one.
“Taylor doesn’t do too many Easter eggs about her personal life. That’s what I really like about her. There’s a professional Taylor who is a performer, and there’s a Taylor who is a human being,” McCullough noted.
“I think there’s something sentimental that only she and Travis know, something we see but never know what it means. Maybe it’s something passed down from her family, like a piece of her mother’s or grandmother’s veil, or something sewn on the inside of her dress. Or maybe there’s a special initial embroidered on the inside of her gown.”
It has become common for brides (especially famous brides) to make multiple outfit changes on their wedding day. Jennifer Lopez and Swift’s friend Selena Gomez each ordered three Ralph Lauren dresses for their weddings, and Lauren Sanchez married Jeff Bezos in fashion from Dolce & Gabbana, Schiaparelli, Versace, and more.
But while Swift may have a parade of bridal outfits as well, McCullough suspects the 14-time Grammy winner will choose to keep things simple.
“The Elas tour showed us that Taylor is a master of quick change. She gets it down to a science,” she said. “However, she is also the type of person who wants to attend weddings, so she may not change her clothes too much.”
But whether she wears one dress or 13, Swift’s wedding style is sure to be as romantic as the songs she writes.
“Ever since Taylor started making music, she’s always incorporated themes about love, so to finally have this beautiful moment is a huge deal for her. I’m sure it’s something she’s been planning since she was a child,” McCullough said.
Below, Silver and McCullough share some of the bridal looks they envision for Swift.
