West Wilson showed signs of deep discomfort and “psychological stress” while confronting his secret relationship with Amanda Batula during Tuesday’s shocking Season 10 “Summer House” reunion.
“During the interaction, West did not appear to be controlling, controlling, or strategically manipulative. He displayed a very unpleasant demeanor,” body language expert Susan Constantine exclusively told Page Six.
“Throughout the interaction, West repeatedly exhibited indicators of physiological stress commonly associated with psychological discomfort and confrontational pressure,” she added.
Constantine noted Wilson’s lip licking, tongue thrusting, ankle locking, thumb manipulation, body contractions, and “decreased verbal certainty,” which she says are “all indicators of autonomic nervous system activation.”
“These are not ‘lie detector’ moments; they are signals that the body is under stress,” she says.
Constantine noticed that Wilson, 31, had a “very avoidant style” in her interactions with her castmates.
“People with this profile often manage emotional tension by withdrawing, minimizing escalation, softening their words, or emotionally retreating when pressure builds,” she says.
In contrast, Mr Constantine said Mr Batula, 34, was heading “directly” into the conflict.
“Her communication style during the reunion was forceful, emotionally confrontational, and focused on validating her own point of view,” she said.
Furthermore, the more Batula tackled the conflict “head on,” the more Wilson would “physiologically shut down.”
“This created what behavioral experts recognize as the classic pursuit-withdrawal relationship,” Constantine says. “One partner escalates for resolution, while the other retreats for self-preservation.”
“Unfortunately, these patterns often become self-reinforcing,” she said. “While withdrawal makes one partner feel ignored, escalation makes the other partner feel psychologically cornered.”
Constantine interpreted Wilson’s mannerisms not as depicting “calculated injustice” but as a sign of “conflict paralysis.”
“His body language suggested someone was trying to survive an emotionally pressurized environment without escalating it further,” she said.
Mr. Batula, on the other hand, seemed to be seeking “legitimation of his feelings” through direct confrontation. She also had “emotional rigidity” throughout the reunion.
“Neither communication style is inherently ‘right,’ but combining them created a visible emotional mismatch that viewers responded to viscerally,” she said.
Although Mr. Wilson and Mr. Batula did not necessarily demonstrate truthfulness or deception, their reunion revealed “two incompatible emotional control systems that collide in public under pressure.”
Wilson and Batula went head-to-head about their secret romance in part one of Tuesday’s long-awaited reunion, which was filmed in April.
Andy Cohen posed questions to the cast, trying to get to the bottom of how Batula was able to cheat on her best friend Ciara Miller by having an affair with her estranged husband’s best friend, Kyle Cooke.
Wilson and Batula claimed they had never slept together until March 31 when they released a public statement saying they had been secretly meeting.
The podcast host was also buoyed by Page Six’s report that he started dating Batula while he was in an exclusive relationship with Maya Moreno.
When Mr. Miller accused him of having a girlfriend, Mr. West clarified that he was “seeing” someone. He also did not deny Lindsay Hubbard’s claims that they had an “exclusive” relationship.
Ms Batula admitted that she and Ms Wilson had “talked about it a lot”.
Mia Calabrese interjects and tells Batula, “That’s crazy because you were married to a bitch from the side of West.”
Miller also provided receipts for text message conversations in which she confronted Batula about rumors that she was meeting West and urged her to retract the claims.
“I lied, 100 percent lied,” Batula admitted on Tuesday’s episode.
Miller and Batula had a tense argument throughout the reunion, with Batula mocking his former best friend at the beginning of the recording.
“I’m ready to admit what I did, take responsibility and apologize, especially to Ciara and Kyle. And, hopefully, I can explain to their faces what happened and where I’m coming from,” Batula said.
Miller retorted, “I’m glad you mentioned our name this time.” Her jab noted that Batula and Wilson did not mention the model or Cook in their statements about their relationship.
“What?” Batura asked in surprise, prompting Miller to double down.
Mr. Miller also named Batura the “snake in the grass.”
“You’re moving quietly, but you’re very deadly,” Miller said.
Batula and Wilson revealed in March that their romance sparked a major rift with their Bravo co-stars.
Miller and Wilson specifically dated in 2023 and rekindled their romance while filming season 10 last summer.
The former nurse had been a supportive friend of Ms Batula’s separation from Ms Cook, which was revealed in January.
Wilson and Batula are still together and were even seen fleeing to Italy before their tense reunion aired.
“Summer House” Season 10 Reunion Part 2 will air on Bravo on June 2nd at 8pm ET.
