Medical personnel discovered the tragic scene, finding Jackson Browne’s son Ethan dead in his apartment.
According to a coroner’s report obtained by Us Weekly, when paramedics arrived they found Ethan holding a straw and a lighter in his hands, as well as several drugs, drug paraphernalia and medical supplies scattered throughout the bedroom.
“Fragments of a glass pipe and burnt aluminum foil containing a crystalline substance and brown residue were found on the nightstand next to his body,” the report said.An e-cigarette, a “Whip It” cartridge and “multiple prescription drugs” were also found at the scene.
The report also noted that medical personnel found a box on Ethan’s bed that “apparently contained illegal drugs and paraphernalia.” They pronounced him dead at the scene.
According to the report, Ethan was found unresponsive in his bedroom by his roommate around 8:24 a.m. on Nov. 25, 2025.
The roommate described her final moments with Ethan, revealing that around 8pm the night before his death, Ethan “appeared to be lethargic” and was “probably under the influence of drugs.”
Ethan was last seen alive at 10:30 p.m., when he went to bed.
As Page Six previously reported in January, the Los Angeles coroner confirmed that Ethan died on November 25, 2025 from “the effects of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and lidocaine.” He was 52 years old.
His father, Jackson, announced the heartbreaking news in a Facebook post that day, saying his son was found “unresponsive in his home.”
“It is with deep sadness that we share that on the morning of November 25, 2025, Ethan Brown, son of Jackson Browne and Phyllis Major, was found unresponsive in his home and passed away,” Jackson’s statement read.
“We ask for privacy and respect for the family during this difficult time. No further details are available at this time.”
Ethan, a famous singer-songwriter, welcomed Ethan to Phyllis Major in 1973, and the two married in 1975.
Major tragically committed suicide in 1976 at the age of 30.
In 2021, Jackson reflected on Major’s death in an interview with Root Magazine, saying that his son became his “main focus” after that.
Ethan grew up and was able to build a career as an actor and model.
He co-starred with Angelina Jolie in 1995’s “Hackers.” In 2004, she appeared in the film “Raising Helen” with Kate Hudson.
