It trod its way to the top.

According to Box Office Mojo, The Devil Wears Prada 2 earned $32.5 million in its opening day in theaters on Friday, earning it the No. 1 spot.

The Post praised the sequel to the 2006 film, based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger, a former assistant to Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, calling it “likeable and, thankfully, not the gaudy embarrassment it could easily become.”

Meryl Streep, who plays icy magazine editor Miranda Priestly in the original Winter, has revealed that she asked for double the salary she was originally offered to reprise the role and has been granted her wish.

“I knew it was going to be a hit, so I wanted to see if I could double down on my request,” she told host Jenna Bush Hager on Wednesday’s “Today with Jenna & Sheinelle.”

“And they immediately went and said, sure. And I thought, I’m 50, 60 years old. It took me this long to understand that I could do it.”

“Michael,” a biopic about the life of the late King of Pop Michael Jackson (which the Post called “cheap, embarrassing, and boring”), dropped one spot to No. 2 with $14.4 million.

The film yesterday surpassed $300 million in worldwide box office receipts, making it the second-highest grossing film in history, behind “Bohemian Rhapsody,” which depicts the life of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.

“Super Mario Galaxy Movie” earned $2.72 million in its fifth Friday, dropping it one place to third place.

This animated adventure sequel, based on Nintendo’s hit game series, is currently the year’s highest-grossing film, grossing more than $1.8 billion worldwide.

The supernatural horror film “Hokum,” starring Adam Scott, took fourth place with an opening day gross of $2.6 million.

In fifth place was “Project Hail Mary,” which grossed over $2.2 million on Friday, its seventh week of release.
