Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring Tom Holland as Spidey/Peter Parker. The Sony and Marvel movie is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 31st.
Following 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, the latest entry into the Spider-Man universe (directed by Destin Daniel Cretton) arrives four years after the end of its predecessor. According to the film’s official logline, Peter, who has erased himself from the lives and memories of those around him, lives in solitude, “fighting crime in a New York where no one knows his name anymore.” “He has dedicated himself to protecting his city and working as a full-time Spider-Man, but as the demands on him increase, the pressure causes a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, and a strange new pattern of crime creates one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.”
In addition to Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo, Jon Bernthal, and Michael Mando all return, while new additions to the cast include Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, Liza Colon-Zayas, and Marvin Jones II.
In footage shown at CinemaCon, audiences got a glimpse of Zendaya’s MJ developing a new love interest and realizing that Parker is moving on.
So far, new takes on the highly anticipated “Spider-Man” movie have delighted fans and even set some records. The film’s previous trailer made history as the first movie trailer to reach over 1 billion views. The trailer, released on March 17th, achieved milestone numbers in just four days. Within just 24 hours of its release, the trailer has already racked up over 718 million views.
At CinemaCon, Sony Chairman Tom Rothman celebrated the achievement. “This is as big as anything we’ve ever built, and yet it feels like nothing we’ve ever built,” he said. “And Tom Holland gives his best performance in this movie. I can say this because I saw the movie.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be written by Chris McKenna and Eric Sommers and produced by Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige. Watch the trailer below.
