Shawn Johnson has slammed Andrew East for the “crazy” decisions he made early in their marriage.
While promoting his podcast “Couple Things” on Thursday’s episode of “The Boss Sticks,” Johnson shared the “real story” of how their show came to be, dating back to 2019.
“I got pregnant with my first child, my daughter Drew. Seven days after I gave birth, Drew started the podcast,” the 34-year-old Olympic gymnast recalled.
“He launched it…there were no episodes,” she continued. “We never talked about doing it. He came up with the name, he came up with the concept, and he put it out on Apple Podcasts.”
The show “charted” so quickly that the duo “had no choice but to do it.”
Johnson told listeners that she was “very upset” and “very angry” because it was “after having[her]first child”.
“It was crazy,” she declared, but East, 34, repeatedly admitted that “mistakes were made” along the way.
However, his wife admitted that podcasting is “her favorite thing to do right now.”
She joked that working together was “something crazy people do” and quipped that she and East “spend every waking moment together.”
The couple has been dating since 2012 and married in 2016.
In addition to Drew, 6, the couple also have two sons, Jett, 4, and Bear, 2.
Johnson made headlines in May when she revealed “how much stress” she felt as the couple “separated” after giving birth to her third child and suffering from postnatal depression.
“I didn’t even know what the problem was,” the “Dancing with the Stars” champion said. “It was cold and it was far away.”
East sat his partner down and suggested they go to therapy together.
Johnson called the gesture, which ultimately helped her “heal,” her husband’s “greatest gift.”
