Netflix has released an early first look at its upcoming “Scooby-Doo” live-action series.
In a clip posted on social media, the beloved detective dog was running through the woods near a summer camp when he met his new best friend and sidekick, Shaggy. Watch the clip below.
The series, officially titled Scooby-Doo: Origins, is currently filming in Atlanta and is expected to premiere in 2027.
As previously announced, the Mystery, Inc. gang will consist of Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones, Tanner Hagen as Norville “Shaggy” Rogers, Abbey Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, and McKenna Grace as Daphne Blake. Netflix shared another early first look in April. Paul Walter Hauser will also appear in the series in an undisclosed role.
The official logline describes the show as a modern reinterpretation of the popular manga. The logline reads: “During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy (Hagen) and Daphne (Grace) become embroiled in a haunting mystery involving a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy who may be a witness to a supernatural murder.” “Along with Velma (Fortson), a down-to-earth, scientific townie, and Freddie (Jenkins), a strange but very handsome new student, they set out to solve a case that draws them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to reveal all their secrets.”
Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg will serve as writers and showrunners, and will also executive produce alongside Andre Nemec, Jeff Pinkner and Adrian Erickson under their Midnight Radio banner. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Lee London Redman will executive produce through their Berlanti Productions. Toby Haynes will executive produce and direct the first episode. Produced by Warner Bros. Television. Berlanti Productions currently has an overall agreement with WBTV.
