Sacha Baron Cohen’s secret Ali G movie, Ali G: Who Iz I?, has been officially released by the comedian and Amazon MGM Studios. It will be released in theaters on October 23rd. Cohen directed this film, making his feature directorial debut.
Cohen announced the film’s release on Wednesday by posting a video of himself as Ali G on his Instagram. “Day has finally made a documentary about me,” he wrote in the exaggerated slang of a London rude boy. “And that’s not crap about a penguin, this penguin has at least twice as much animality. “Ali G: Who am I?” What does Cominaccia mean in 10.23? ”
Cohen shot the film in secret, much like his 2006 comedy Borat and its 2020 sequel. He invented the character of Ali G on Channel 4’s ‘The 11 O’Clock Show’ in 1998 and reprized the fictional Londoner on his own ‘Da Ali G Show’ in the early 2000s. Cohen starred as the main character in the 2002 film Ali G. Indahouse, directed by Mark Mylod.
Similar to his role as Borat, Cohen plays Ali G, interviewing people on the street and frequently getting into hilarious and hair-raising situations with unsuspecting victims. He interviewed Noam Chomsky, Andy Rooney, and Newt Gingrich, all of whom were puzzled by the fake characters.
In addition to Borat and Ali G, Cohen recently starred in the Marvel Disney+ series Ironheart, where he plays the demon Mephisto. He also appears in the 2026 comedies “Ladies First” and “Balls Up.” He won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the original Borat and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 2020 for the sequel, Borat: Subsequent Movie Film. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in 2021 for his role in The Trial of the Chicago 7.
