Concourse Media has acquired international sales rights to the psychological thriller “Sender,” which recently premiered at SXSW, and will introduce the film to buyers around the world at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.
Written and directed by Russell Goldman in his feature debut, Sender also stars Britt Lower and Jamie Lee Curtis, who is also producing under her Comet Pictures banner. The ensemble cast includes Rhea Seehorn, David Dastmalchian, Anna Baryshnikov, and Utkarsh Ambudkar.
The film depicts a woman (Lower) whose life begins to fall apart after she begins receiving a series of increasingly invasive and disturbing packages from an unknown sender. According to the synopsis, “Blending psychological horror with grounded character drama, ‘Sender’ explores themes of surveillance, control, and identity in a hyper-connected world.”
The project first attracted industry attention when its script was blacklisted, and was expanded from Goldman’s previous short, “Return to Sender.”
“‘Sender’ is exactly the type of movie that feels tailored to today’s market,” said Matt Schrader, CEO of Concourse Media. “We deliver on a clear, high-concept hook with a polished edge, anchored by a stellar cast led by Britt Lower, Rhea Seehorn and Jamie Lee Curtis. The response from SXSW has only reinforced what we saw early on. This is a smart, gripping psychological thriller with real international commercial upside. We’re excited to bring it to Cannes and build momentum with buyers around the world.”
Producers Molly Hallam and Jake Katofsky added, “We are thrilled to partner with Concourse Media to bring ‘Sender’ to the international market. They clearly understand how to position elevated genre films on the global stage, and Cannes provides the perfect platform to connect this story with audiences around the world.”
