The provocative sci-fi thriller “Savior,” which recently bowed at SXSW, is headed to Cannes Marche.
Protagonist Pictures has embarked on international sales for the film, which features an ensemble cast including Adam Scott, Daniel Deadwyler, Theo Rossi, Kate Berlant, Nazanin Boniadi, Ron Perlman and Greg Kinnear.
“Messiah,” directed by Kevin Hamedani and co-written with Travis Betts, follows a divorcing suburban couple, Sean and Kim Harrison, who rent out a guest house to a quiet Middle Eastern brother and sister. What begins as a pragmatic solution quickly spirals into paranoia as the days leading up to the president’s visit combine with strange events: mysterious lights, missing animals, and glimpses of unexplained technology. As suspicions mount, the couple is emotionally pulled back together while uncovering a dangerous secret with potentially unimaginable consequences.
Highway 10’s Matt Smith and Dan Gedman are financing and producing the film. Other producers include Adam Scott and Naomi Scott of Great Scott Productions. Nicholas Weinstock and Divya D’Souza of Invention Studios. and Bradley Gallo and Michael Helfant of Amasia Entertainment. Deadwyler, Alyssa Lorenbeck and Josh Sasle will serve as executive producers. UTA Independent Film Group and CAA Media Finance represent North American rights.
