Fans don’t have to wait too long to see the Owens sisters return to the big screen.
Nicole Kidman went to Instagram on Saturday morning to announce that “Practical Magic 2” had enveloped production.
“It’s a rap for ‘Practical Magic 2’,” read the caption.
The highly anticipated sequel to the 1998 fantasy comedy is scheduled to be a hit in theaters on September 18th, 2026. Kidman and original co-star Sandra Bullock will reprise their roles as Sally and Gillian Owens, who descend from the famous lineage of witches. In the first film based on Alice Hoffman’s 1995 novel, the Owens sisters must stop the curse that kills every man who falls in love. The plot details for “Practical Magic 2” are still wrapped, but the film is reportedly based on another book in Hoffman’s “Practical Magic” series.
The original stars Diane West and Stockard Channing also return to the sequel. They are set to reprise their roles as Jet and Francis, respectively. The eccentric aunt of the Owens Sisters educate them about all magic. Other cast members include Lee Pace, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, Solly Mc Leod and Joey King.
“Birdbox” director Suzanne Beer will helm the film from a script co-written by Akiba Goldman, who co-wrote the first “Practical Magic” and Georgia Prickett.
The original “practical magic” won only $68.3 million worldwide for a $75 million budget, not at the box office revenue at the 1998 release. However, the film achieved cult hit status on home video.
