New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani candidly dropped a major hint about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s upcoming wedding while discussing safety measures being taken for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“I have complete confidence in the efforts of the NYPD and our state partners to provide a safe experience,” the politician told reporters at a press conference Monday.
“We are the largest city in this country,” he continued. “We’re used to big events, and we’re incredibly excited about this one. We know it coincides with the Knicks hosting the (NBA) Finals, we know it coincides with America’s 250th anniversary on July 4th, Taylor Swift’s wedding, and it all happens at the same time. And we’re so excited to welcome the world here.”
Mamdani, 34, emphasized that the weekend’s big sporting events, the New York Knicks’ victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Texas and the World Cup game between Brazil and Morocco at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, showed New Yorkers coming together.
“One of the great things about Saturday was walking down the street and seeing people in Brazil jerseys, people in Morocco jerseys, people in Knicks jerseys,” he exclaimed.
Mamdani added, “I feel like the city is alive.”
The Mayor is then invited to Swift and Kelce’s long-awaited wedding and asked if he would like to attend.
“No, no,” he said.
“I wish them a wonderful wedding. I will listen to ‘Only the Young’ alone at home,” Mamdani added, referring to the 2020 Grammy-winning song.
Sources tell Page Six that Kelce and Swift, both 36, are planning to host a wedding at Madison Square Garden over the weekend of July 3rd.
Guests who received invitations were asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before receiving ceremony details, TMZ reported.
Additionally, there are penalties for violating the agreement.
Zoe Kravitz, Suki Waterhouse, Karlie Kloss, Ed Sheeran, the Haim sisters, Gigi Hadid and Selena Gomez are among the lucky ones who reportedly secured invitations.
Meanwhile, Kelce and Swift got engaged in August 2025, when the Kansas City Chiefs star popped the question after two years of dating.
The couple have been enjoying the past few weeks as an engaged couple, going on dates around New York, including at the Broadway production of “Oh Mary!” This past weekend.
