New details about Bobby J. Brown’s cause of death have emerged four months after he died in a tragic barn fire.

The “Wire” alum, who died in February at age 62 from diffuse burns and smoke inhalation, “had consumed alcoholic beverages prior to death,” according to an autopsy and toxicology report obtained by Us Weekly on Wednesday.

However, no drugs were found in the actor’s body after his death.

At the time of his death, his carbon monoxide level was 71 percent, and “most” of his hair had been burnt off.

He suffered “fourth-degree burns” and a “thermal fracture of his ankle,” and was “missing skin on his left chest, part of his left arm, and part of his lower leg.”

According to a harrowing 911 call made by his widow Arlene at the time, Brown was trying to jump start his Cadillac in his Maryland barn before he died.

When emergency personnel arrived, the building was “largely engulfed” and Brown was “trapped inside.”

In addition to Arlene, the “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” alum is survived by two adult children.

Brown’s agent paid tribute to his client in February, calling him “a rare individual who brought a deep humanity to every role he played.”

The spokesperson added, “While many knew of his strength as a champion boxer and strong on-screen presence, we also knew him as a dedicated professional and kind-hearted person. We were thrilled to represent him.”

Meanwhile, his agent said, “We are upset and saddened. He was a very good actor and human being. He was completely dedicated to the craft of acting and was a pleasure to work with.”

Brown is best known for playing Officer Bobby Brown on “The Wire.”

After death, his blood contained 71 percent carbon monoxide.

The former boxer’s last acting job was a role in the 2023 film The Postman.

Brown’s death follows the headline-grabbing suicide of James Ransone two months earlier, as well as a number of other deaths of his former Wire co-stars.

Cast members Charlie Scalise and Al Brown passed away in May 2025, and Michael K. Williams and Lance Reddick passed away in 2021 and 2023, respectively.
