Ryan Phillippe has joined the cast of the upcoming second season of 9-1-1: Nashville, Variety has confirmed.
Season 1 of the “9-1-1” spinoff is currently airing, with the season finale scheduled to air in May. It was renewed for season 2 in March. Philippe will appear as a series regular. His character is described as “a brilliant, unconventional detective who moves to Nashville from New York. A fascinating juvenile delinquent with a past, he’ll spark all sorts of fascinating drama with first responders as he leads an investigation on a biblical scale into the mysterious criminals plaguing Nashville.”
The show’s cast currently includes Chris O’Donnell, Jessica Capshaw, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, LeAnn Rimes, Michael Provost, Juani Feliz, Haley Kilgore, and Hunter McVeigh.
This isn’t Philip’s first time appearing on an ABC drama. He previously appeared on the broadcast network’s shows “Big Sky” and “Secrets and Lies.” His other television credits include “Motorheads,” “Shooter,” “McGruber” and “Damages.” Philippe is best known for his roles in films such as “Cruel Intentions,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” “Stop Loss,” and “Flags of Our Fathers.”
He is repped by Gersh, MGMT and Sloan Offer.
“9-1-1: Nashville” currently airs on Thursdays and is paired with its mothership show “9-1-1.” The series is produced by 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television. Ryan Murphy, Tim Minor and Rashad Raisani will serve as executive producers, and O’Donnell, Brad Buecker, Brad Falchuk and Angela Bassett will also co-star. Raisani will serve as showrunner.
