The first-ever Toronto Film Market attracted more than 150 sales companies and promotional organizations. The bazaar, known as TIFF: The Market, will be held from September 10th to 16th as part of the Toronto Film Festival.
Confirmed exhibitors include Goodfellas, Anton, Playtime, AGC Studios, CAA, Pyramid, XYZ Films, WME, FilmNation, UTA, and more.
Toronto revealed last week that more than 130 buyers from 49 countries have confirmed to participate in the market, including major companies such as Metropolitan Film Export, Tobis, Eagle Pictures and A Contracorriente.
“We designed the Market to meet the needs of a global sales community seeking more buyer engagement through access to premium screening facilities, cost-effective display solutions, and a compact footprint that reduces travel time and maximizes in-person meeting opportunities,” said Charles Tremblay, Head of TIFF: The Market.
The list of confirmed distributors includes Lucky Number, Filmax, CJ Entertainment, Global Constellation, Finecut, CJ Entertainment, and SND. Toronto claimed that other major distributors that have joined Toronto in the past, including Lionsgate, Blackbear, Gaumont, Pathé Films and Embankment Films, will also be participating this year.
Participants include national film organizations representing a variety of sales, production and distribution companies, as well as trade associations and guilds. These include Screen Australia, Korean Film Council, UniFrance, ICEX, European Film Promotion, Unijapan, BFI, Screen Ireland, Czech Film Center, German Film, Polish Film Institute, AFCI and TAICCA.
The market has received C$23 million ($16.4 million) in funding from the Government of Canada and is supported by Telefilm Canada.
