David Harbor and Millie Bobby Brown, who co-starred on Stranger Things for five seasons, will be sharing the screen once again. Netflix has announced a series order for Jack Thorne’s untitled spy thriller, produced by A24, with him starring and executive producing. Thorne not only co-produced the Emmy-winning blockbusters Adolescence and Lord of the Flies for Netflix, but also wrote the screenplay for the streamer’s Enola Holmes film, starring Brown.
According to the logline for the new series, “Matt Wolf, a disgraced FBI agent turned security expert, is drawn back into the world he left behind when his estranged daughter Rebecca (now determined to follow in his footsteps as an FBI agent) disappears on a mission, forcing him back into a field that has evolved beyond him.”
“We’re thrilled to bring this spy drama to life with the incredible group of talent we’ve been lucky enough to collaborate with,” said Ginny Howe, Netflix’s head of U.S. and Canadian scripted series. “Jack Thorne’s ability to find deeply human stories within thrillers is unparalleled, and audiences will love seeing Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbor reunite, this time as estranged father and daughter on opposite sides of crisis. A24 is the perfect partner to bring this story to our members around the world.”

Since Stranger Things ended on December 31, 2025, Harbor and Brown have been keeping busy. Brown’s “Enola Holmes 3” premiered on July 1, and Harbor starred in the HBO limited series “DTF St. Louis.”
Both Brown and Harbor have begun teasing this reunion as they have recently moved forward with these projects. In Variety’s June 10 cover story on Harbor, he said, “To be clear, Millie and I are working on some stuff…” before pausing himself and continuing. “You’re going to see more of me and Millie. 10 years wasn’t enough. There’s a special bond there. I love her. She loves me.”
And Brown appeared on the 92nd Street Y this week and said future projects with Harbor are “concrete,” before adding, “We’re father and daughter, but Netflix will always be our home.”
“The David Harbor project is coming sooner than expected,” Brown said later in a conversation with “Happy Sad Confused” host Josh Horowitz. “It was David’s idea, so kudos to him.”
Brown and Harbor’s self-described “father-daughter” bond isn’t without its share of friction, but in their cover story about Harbor, the pair revealed reports that their rift had escalated to a crisis point — according to a Daily Mail article from last fall, Brown filed a formal complaint with Netflix’s human resources department about Harbor before production on “Stranger Things 5.”
“If it’s a family, it’s fine because they just have a disagreement and then they get back on track. The problem with a billion-dollar show is there are only a few hundred people who want to be on it,” Haber said. “It was just something that was broken and repaired, so we just got everyone out of the way, talked to each other, and the problem went away.”
As for Brown, she said in an email to Variety: “Over time, our relationship has become more collaborative creatively. Working together for so many years, we can really push each other emotionally in our scenes. Even though the series is over, we still have a lot to be thankful for.”
In “Stranger Things,” Harbor played Hawkins, Indiana, police chief Jim Hopper, who adopts Brown’s Eleven, the show’s central character, an all-powerful lab-generated child. The Stranger Things series finale ended with Eleven seemingly sacrificing her life to save the world, but both actors have recently weighed in on the question of whether or not she’s actually alive. Brown said he made a promise with the Duffer brothers not to reveal Eleven’s fate.
But Haber told Variety’s Daniel Daddario that for Haber, the problem is simple. “We’ve loved this little girl since the beginning of that series, but there’s no way there’s a little girl running around Hawkins, Indiana with supernatural powers. She can’t exist,” he said.
The new Netflix spy series will also be executive produced by PCMA Productions’ Jake Bongiovi and Robert Brown. Cut To is Joe Hipps and Patrick McDonald. Bravo Axolotl KC Wenson. Mr. Brown is repped by WME, 2PM SHARP, Hansen and Jacobson. Harbor is repped by WME, Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern, and Relevant. Mr. Thorne’s team includes UTA, Casarot Ramsey & Associates, Sloan Offer, Weber & Dern, and ID.
