Megyn Kelly slammed Sunny Hostin for removing her name from ‘The View’ while trying to convince police not to issue her son Gabriel with a citation for trespassing.
“She’s very upset because no one is above the law, and everyone except Sunny Hostin is swimming in privilege,” Kelly said on Monday’s SiriusXM show.
The 55-year-old journalist claimed that Sunny, 57, showed “sagging sanctimony and hypocrisy” by boasting to Westchester, New York, police about his legal background and work on “The View,” according to body camera footage.
“She doesn’t love our country,” Kelly continued. “When she sees a neighborhood full of American flags, she feels threatened and unsafe because this country is too destructive to her.”
Kelly also said that Sonny and his Ivy League-educated son are extremely privileged, despite Sonny’s comments about white privilege on his ABC talk show.
“Most people’s kids didn’t go to Harvard,” Kelly said. “Do you think her child got into Harvard entirely on merit, or do you think she may have pulled the Sunny Hostin ‘view’ card to help her son?”
“But she won’t admit any of that,” Kelly continued. “No, it’s all about white privilege, which she talks about all the time on that show. And Trump is evil and his voters are white supremacists. That’s her main talking point from ‘The View.'”
Kelly called Sunny’s response to Gabrielle’s trespassing incident “disgusting” and argued that leveraging her career in such a scenario is “not something most of us would do.”
“That’s ridiculous. I would never play that card,” Kelly said. “Never. And this is what she’s doing.”
On June 16, Sunny’s 24-year-old son was taken into custody on suspicion of “trespassing” next to the Metro-North railroad tracks in New Rochelle, New York.
Gabriel told police he was on the run when he saw a gate near the railroad tracks open, according to footage and court records obtained by the newspaper.
When Sonny arrived at the scene, he told officers, “My name is Sonny Hostin. I’m one of the co-hosts of ‘The View,’ and I’m a former federal prosecutor.”
Sonny also noted that Gabriel graduated from Harvard University in 2025, insisting that “he was never a troubled kid.”
Gabriel was slapped with a charge of trespassing, but police said they were “downplaying” the consequences of the crime and described it as an “arrestable offence”.
“You are very cooperative with us and everything is good, including your background. We know you are not a criminal or anything, but our hands are tied with cameras everywhere,” the officer told Gabriel.
Gabriel is scheduled to return to court in New Rochelle on July 31.
Sunny defended her son’s actions in a letter to Westchester Assistant District Attorney Amanda Green obtained by TMZ.
The journalist said Gabriel had faced “imposition of unnecessary consequences” and had “demonstrated extraordinary character and accomplishments”.
Sunny is raising Gabriel and daughter Paloma, 20, with her husband, orthopedic surgeon Emmanuel Hostin. They have been married since August 1998.
