Isla Fisher and Jane Krakowski will guest star on Larry David’s upcoming American history sketch show on HBO, Variety has learned exclusively.
Officially titled “Life, Rally, and the Pursuit of Misfortune,” the show commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States. The show will premiere on HBO and HBO Max on June 26th at 9pm ET/PT and will run for seven episodes until August 7th. The show stars David, several of his Curb Your Enthusiasm co-stars, and a roster of guest actors, and skewers major events in American history.
Krakowski and Fischer both appear in the series’ first full trailer, which you can watch below. Both actresses previously appeared on season 10 of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Krakowski recently played Mary Todd Lincoln in the Broadway hit “Oh Mary!”
Other stars appearing in the trailer include Jon Hamm, Sean Hayes, Jerry Seinfeld, Rita Wilson, Susie Essman, Essence Atkins, Toby Huss, Greg Kinnear, Lin-Manuel-Miranda, Vince Vaughn, and Chris Parnell.
Krakowski has been nominated for five Emmy Awards, four for her role as Jenna Maroney on 30 Rock and one for her work on the Netflix comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Her other recent television credits include ‘Schmigadoon’, ‘Dickinson’ and ‘Elsbeth’.
Fisher recently appeared in the third film in the Now You See Me series, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. She has also recently appeared in films such as Jay Kelly, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, and Playdate. On television, he appeared in seasons 4 and 5 of the Peacock series “Wolf Like Me” and “Arrested Development.”
Krakowski is repped by Untitled and UTA. Mr. Fisher is repped by UTA, Curtis Brown Group, Shanahan Management, Anonymous Content and Sloan Offer.
The series is written and executive produced by David and co-creator Jeff Shaffer, who also serves as director. Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Ethan Lewis and Vinny Malhotra served as executive producers for Higher Ground.
The official logline reads, “Those who don’t know history…are doomed to watch Larry David repeat history.”
This will be David’s latest return to HBO. “Curb Your Enthusiasm” originally aired for eight seasons on the network from 2000 to 2011. It was later rebroadcast for the ninth season in 2017, the tenth season in 2020, the eleventh season in 2021, and the twelfth and final season aired in 2024.
