Liam Payne’s underage son Bear will inherit approximately $28 million following the singer’s tragic death.
The One Direction singer’s 9-year-old son with ex Cheryl Cole has been named the sole beneficiary of Payne’s estate, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
Bears will have access to a portion of the funds. However, most of it will be held in a trust until he turns 18.
The “Night Changes” singer had no will after his death, so Cole and music lawyer Richard Bray were named administrators of Payne’s estate.
However, all they were given was the power to collect and preserve the deceased pop star’s assets.
Payne died in October 2024 after falling from the balcony of her hotel room on the third floor of the Casa Sur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was 31 years old.
The “What Makes You Beautiful” singer suffered multiple injuries, including a skull fracture that led to internal and external bleeding.
At the time of his death, Payne had a blood alcohol level four times the legal limit and was under the influence of multiple drugs, including cocaine, crack and benzodiazepines.
In February 2025, three of the five people charged with manslaughter in connection with Payne’s death had their charges dropped.
Charges against the late singer’s friend Rogelio “Roger” Nores and two Casasul Palermo hotel employees were dismissed.
However, Ezequiel Pereira and Brian Paiz, who are accused of selling Payne cocaine, are still awaiting trial.
