Last week, celebrities burst onto the New York City scene.
Last Monday, Lena Dunham celebrated the publication of her new memoir, Famesick, at the iconic Algonquin Hotel.
The Girls author was reportedly joined by longtime friend and co-host of the podcast The C-Word, Alyssa Bennett, for a “raucous conversation” about the book.
The “Garden of Laughter” event, held a few blocks away at Radio City Music Hall, featured John Oliver, Ronnie Chen, Zarna Garg, Andrew Schultz, Hasan Minhaj, Josh Johnson and Iliza Shlesinger.
Further downtown, at the Moxy New York City Downtown Recreation Bar, the WNBA’s newest star, Azi Fuad, celebrated his No. 1 draft seed.
Fudd is said to have hosted an “electric” private event, making use of the venue’s distinctive half court and relaxing in a retro library. Take-home gifts included Paula’s Choice lip care and branded basketballs.
The unlikely duo of Gayle King and Gia Giudice posed for a photo together at the Old Navy x Christopher John Rogers event in Times Square on Tuesday.
Other attendees included Katie Holmes, Chloe Fineman, and Kimora Lee Simmons.
Holmes and Joshua Jackson met by chance at a New York gala screening of Brunello: The Elegant Visionary at Lincoln Center’s David Koch Theater.
When the former “Dawson’s Creek” co-stars posed for a photo together, “photographers went crazy,” a spy said.
Also there were Christie Brinkley and her daughter, Sailor Brinkley-Cook, Allison Williams, Martha Stewart, Naomi Watts, Shonda Rhimes and Grace Gummer.
On Wednesday, the cast of Broadway’s “Fear of 13” celebrated opening night with an afterparty at The Pool in Midtown. Emmy Rossum, Common, Rebecca Hall, Mamie Gummer, Adrien Brody and his partner Georgina Chapman were in attendance.
At the show, Brody reportedly threw a bouquet of flowers to Nick Yarris, who plays opposite Tessa Thompson. (Yarris spent 22 years on death row in Pennsylvania after being wrongly convicted of rape and murder, and was exonerated by DNA testing in 2003.)
At Adler Hall on the Upper West Side, Emma Greed interviewed Martha Stewart for “Starting with Yourself: A New Vision for Work and Life” in front of a packed crowd.
On Thursday, Page Six spies spotted Patrick Schwarzenegger ordering a healthy bowl for lunch at Matter in Noho.
“When ordering at the kiosk, they seemed to be carefully reading the nutrition facts label,” the spy said.
That night, Matt Damon stopped by the Broadway afterparty for Proof at Pier 61’s Lighthouse to cheer on his Ocean’s Eleven co-star Don Cheadle.
“They had a big hug and had a friendly reunion,” a source said.
Other A-list stars included Anna Wintour, Busy Philipps, Michelle Williams, Nicholas Braun, Anthony Edwards, Mare Winningham, and the show’s stars Ayo Edebiri, Kara Young, Jin Ha, and director Tommy Kyle.
Before the show, Cheadle and his co-stars reportedly set up a coffee cart outside the theater for the press and staff.
On Saturday night, Jon Bernthal auctioned off his “Dog Day Afternoon” costume T-shirts to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
“The auction was so heated that we ended up selling two costume T-shirts for $10,000 to benefit the organization,” the source said.
Downtown Team Fox NYC Young Professionals hosted the annual Foxy Gala at Hall des Lumiere in Tribeca in support of the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Disease Research Foundation.
I’m told there were 800 attendees and sponsors included Jimmy John’s, Blue Owl, Skadden, Tito’s, Crumbl, and The Magnum Ice Cream Company. I hear they raised over $355,000.
Although Foxx was not in attendance, the “Back to the Future” star attended the foundation’s fourth annual event, “Country Stuff on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s Disease,” held at Belmont University’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts in Nashville earlier this week.
The night was hosted by NBC’s “Sunday Today” anchor Willie Geist, whose father, Bill Geist, has Parkinson’s disease and raised $1.5 million for the cause.
Headliners for the musical included Eric Church and Little Big Town, and comedians Dusty Slay, Aaron Weber, and Maggie Hughes DePalo also performed.
Back in Manhattan, celebrities gathered Sunday for the premiere of “Sheep Detectives” at Jazz at Lincoln Center.
I hear Hugh Jackman, Sutton Foster, Chris O’Dowd, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Brett Goldstein, Regina Hall and Molly Gordon were there.
