Kim Kardashian is getting creative with haute couture.
The star was in New York on Tuesday night to promote her new Hulu show “All’s Fair.”
With a star-studded ensemble cast including Naomi Watts, Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close, Teyana Taylor and Niecy Nash, it’s no wonder the premiere events in Los Angeles, Paris and London were complete fashion spectacles.
Last night, Kardashian was spotted leaving the Whitby Hotel in Midtown wearing a fur wrap and silk pencil skirt.
Although it had more coverage than her recent looks, the top itself was actually a vintage fox fur stole.
Kardashian chose vintage Saint Laurent for the night. Her top was actually designed as an accessory for the fall 2003 collection, originally appearing on the runway with an oversized silk sash tied in a ribbon off the shoulders.
The stole also featured prominently in the design house’s print advertising that season.
Online auction house 1st Dibs recently sold items in different colorways depicting how to twist the bodice silk to create a retro bra top look, just like Kardashian did.
The Skims founder is known for frequently dipping into her fashion archives, whether it’s iconic looks with notable provenance or simple vintage purchases.
The day before, the 45-year-old appeared wearing a haute couture corset from Dominique Syrup’s fall 1999 collection.
A week earlier, she celebrated her 45th birthday wearing a vintage Givenchy corset originally modeled by Naomi Campbell on the spring 1997 haute couture runway.
Archive pieces keep coming into Kardashian’s wardrobe, and we can only imagine what her own museum-quality archive is like.
