Kelly Clarkson got emotional as she discussed the end of her talk show in an emotional interview with actress Rita Wilson.
“I just want to say one thing before I leave,” the “Jungle All the Way” star told the TV host on Wednesday’s episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
“Thank you for doing our show over the years. Thank you for literally changing the face of daytime television.”
Wilson, 69, praised Clarkson, 44, for his love of music and for bringing “so much music into the daytime.”
“You shared your voice and your talent and everyone else’s and your amazing band with us,” the actress continued.
“I really want to thank you, because you’ve made a huge difference in my life. So, thank you, Kelly.”
The audience cheered as a visibly emotional Clarkson said, “I’m not crying. I’m so glad.”
The “Stronger” songstress stood up and gave Wilson a warm hug, and the two said, “I love you.”
Clarkson then sat back down, looked into the camera, and jokingly said, “Stop it,” with teary eyes.
The “Because of You” singer confirmed that her daytime talk show will end after seven seasons in February.
At the time, Clarkson took to Instagram to thank fans who have supported the show since it first aired in 2019.
“Due to all of this, this was not an easy decision to make, but this season will be my last as host of The Kelly Clarkson Show,” she said, explaining that she was “stepping back” to focus on her children, River, 12, and Remington, 10, whom she shared with her late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
“I’m going to continue to make music and play shows here and there, and you might see me on ‘The Voice’ from time to time…I don’t know where I’ll show up next,” she added.
Sure enough, in May, NBC announced that Clarkson would be returning as a coach on The Voice for season 30.
The television personality appeared on the competition series from seasons 14 to 21 and also served as a judge in seasons 23 and 29.
