Kelly Clarkson hasn’t lost her cheeky sense of humor.
“I’m going to get fired from NBC, but I’m not going to work there anymore,” Clarkson joked during Friday night’s concert at Caesars Palace Las Vegas, stroking the sleeve of a fan’s sequined jacket, before saying she was “sad” the talk show was ending because it was “fun,” according to Us Weekly.
The American Idol alum revealed in February that she was ending her eponymous talk show after seven seasons, saying it wasn’t an “easy decision” but that she was “stepping away” to focus on her children with her late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
Mr. Blackstock died of cancer in August 2025 at the age of 48.
The couple settled for divorce in 2022 after years of legal battles.
Clarkson said in February that after her father’s death, she felt prioritizing her children was “the necessary and right thing to do for the next chapter of[their]lives.”
Earlier this month, the Grammy Award winner announced plans to release his first new single since the release of “Where Have You Been” in May 2025.
“New single? 👀 #IdBeLyin,” the Grammy winner told her Instagram followers on July 2. “Pre-save the link in your profile! #July17.”
The single’s premiere date coincided with Clarkson’s Las Vegas residency, which begins Friday and ends in mid-August.
Clarkson will also return as a “Voice” coach this fall for the competition series’ 30th season.
She initially appeared as a coach on the long-running series from seasons 14 to 21.
Earlier this year, Page Six exclusively reported that Clarkson was “excited to move on at a different pace” after his talk show and was looking forward to doing more “creative work.”
The source added, “She still wants to make and perform music and is open to participating in projects she loves, but nothing that requires constant daily effort.”
