John Stamos paid tribute to his late “Full House” co-star Bob Saget on what would have been his 70th birthday by sharing a photo of them together, calling it “the last photo.”
Stamos and his wife, Caitlin McHugh, were all smiles in a photo shared on Instagram on Sunday with Saget and his widow, Kelly Rizzo, at the beach.
The seaside photo was taken at sunset, and Stamos, 62, wrote “Last photo” at the top of the image.
The throwback snap was just one of the images Stamos shared while remembering his friend who played Danny Tanner on the ABC sitcom.
“We often threw each other wonderful birthday parties,” he wrote.
“Today was a wonderful day for you on your 70th birthday. I miss you and love you.”
Another photo showed Stamos with his arm around Saget, who was sitting behind a drum set.
One snap featured the cast of “Full House.” Stamos, who played Danny’s brother-in-law Jesse Katsopolis, was seen playing guitar while a tuxedo-clad Saget spoke into the microphone.
Twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, then young children, held tambourines and Dave Courier, who played Uncle Joey, sang into a microphone.
Stamos’ post sparked a flurry of compliments from stars and fans alike.
Candace Cameron Bure, who played DJ Tanner on Full House, responded to the merry-go-round snap and video with three red love hearts.
Darci Rose Barnes, who starred in The Young and the Restless and Desperate Housewives, wrote: “Sending so much love to you all.”
“Happy 70th Birthday Bob,” wrote director Brett Gursky.
Sad fans described Saget as “America’s father.” Saget raised his three children after his wife, Pam, died in a drunk-driving accident in the movie Full House.
Saget was found dead in her room at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Orlando, Florida, on January 9, 2022, at the age of 65.
He died from head trauma and was left with multiple skull fractures.
A post-mortem report on Mr Saje revealed that he suffered bleeding and brain bruising and that his death was “as a result of blunt head trauma”.
Stamos said she left “devastated and gutted” and in “complete and utter shock” after learning Saget had died.
“I’ll never have a friend like him again,” he wrote to X.
At the memorial service, Stamos recalled that her relationship with Saget during their time on “Full House” “didn’t really work out.”
“We certainly had different acting styles and different ways of approaching each scene,” he said, continuing, “We met in the middle and as the years went on, it didn’t take long for us to respect each other professionally and creatively.”
Stamos recalled that after her parents died, Saget “was there for me more than anyone else.”
“When I hosted my father’s funeral, he said dirty jokes and talked about himself,” he said.
“Through divorce, death, despair, and dark days, he was there. He was there through love, marriage, children, and the brighter times. He was my lifeline.”
