Chicago and beyond!
Joan Cusack pulled back the curtain at the Toy Story 5 premiere in Los Angeles on Tuesday, announcing her decision to ditch Hollywood and live with her family in “normal” Chicago.
“I’m very honored to have worked in this industry for so long,” the 63-year-old actress told Variety. “But it’s also nice to live your life, raise your kids, be in Chicago and be a normal person.”
Cusack has been married to her husband, lawyer Richard Burke, since 1996.
The couple have two sons, Dylan, 28, and Miles, 25.
The Emmy winner, who voices Jesse in the film series, described her life outside of the industry as “precious in a way,” but also called the star-studded premiere “cool in a way.”
She said, “Unless it’s an action movie, there aren’t many movies that have a huge red carpet.”
Last month’s London premiere marked Cusack’s first red carpet appearance in more than a decade.
On Tuesday, Cusack was all smiles on the red carpet in a cream-colored ensemble paired with black pumps and matching accessories.
The Oscar nominee posed for photos with co-stars Tom Hanks and Taylor Swift.
Shining in an off-shoulder corset dress, the pop star wowed fans with her post-screening performance, performing her new original song “I Knew It, I Knew You,” which is featured in the film.
Swift, 36, gushed about Cusack’s character in particular while sharing the song with Swifties via social media last week.
The Grammy winner posted a throwback video of herself in the iconic cowgirl costume on Friday, writing, “Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and instantly felt like second nature. And being a Toy Story kid from the age of 5 until now…an adventure I plan on continuing into infinity and beyond.”
Cusack’s character debuted in Toy Story 2 in 1999 and starred in the third and fourth films in the Disney-Pixar series in 2010 and 2019, respectively.
“Toy Story 5” will be released in theaters on June 19th.
