Jeremy Clarkson is set to return for more episodes of Who Want to Be a Millionaire? Following the news that he was in remission from cancer, a spin-off, Millionaire Hot Seat, was created.
British network ITV has ordered 15 episodes of its flagship quiz show and 20 episodes of its spin-off show Hot Seat, which will launch in January and will also be hosted by Clarkson. This high-pressure game takes an added twist as contestants are required to answer questions quickly in a fast-moving queue system or risk being replaced.
Both Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and Millionaire Hot Seat were commissioned by ITV’s Katie Rawcliffe, Kevin O’Brien and David Smith and produced by Stellify Media, backed by Sony Pictures Television, for ITV and its streaming platform ITVX. Kerri Reid executive produces Stellify.
“The Millionaires brand continues to deliver for ITV viewers and Millionaires Hotseat brings an exciting new energy to the format,” Mr Rawcliffe said in a statement. “The combination of Jeremy Clarkson’s hosting and high-pressure gameplay has proven to be a winning formula, so we’re thrilled to bring you both ‘Millionaire Hot Seat’ and ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?'” Come back for more episodes. ”
Clarkson plans to film both shows later this year. The journalist-turned-TV personality recently revealed on the latest season of Prime Video’s series Clarkson’s Farm that he has been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of prostate cancer. In an interview with the Sunday Times following the revelations last week, he informed fans that he had undergone surgery and is now in remission, calling himself “officially the luckiest man in the world”.
