A day after it was reported that Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt have split, new details have emerged.
A source told People magazine on Friday that the “Saturday Night Live” alum and model, who welcomed daughter Scottie in December, “would love to be friends and do things together, but it’s hard to think about going somewhere right now.”
The source added that behind the scenes, Davidson and Hewitt were “not getting along” after the birth of their daughter.
“They were already having a bit of a hard time while Elsie was pregnant,” the source continued. “Things happened so quickly between us that we didn’t really get to know each other very well.”
Davidson, 32, and Hewitt, 30, are said to be “trying to work out” how they can “co-parent” their young daughter after a rift in their relationship.
“She’s not competing with Pete over the baby, but it hasn’t been smooth sailing,” a source said of their new relationship after their split.
They called the “King of Staten Island” star a “softie” who “wanted to be with a woman with kids.”
“It is not entirely out of the question,” they explained, noting that “the split was mutual.”
Representatives for Davidson and Hewitt did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment Friday night.
On Thursday, The Sun reported that Davidson’s busy schedule was a factor in their breakup. “Pete traveled a lot for work and Elsie wanted more support from him at home after her daughter was born,” a source told the outlet.
“It was very difficult for him, because obviously he has to work to earn money,” they explained.
Another source told the outlet that the breakup was recent and that the couple is “100% focused on Scotty” at the moment.
The alleged breakup was clearly not sudden. A source told Page Six in early May that the two are “working through the struggles in their relationship” but that it’s “uncertain” how things will turn out.
Hewitt and Davidson made their whirlwind romance public for the first time with a PDA-laden vacation in Palm Beach in March 2025, and the model debuted her baby bump with a triumphant Instagram upload in July 2025.
The couple welcomed Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson on December 12th after enjoying a bunny-themed baby shower, with Hewitt dubbing the toddler her “perfect angel girl” on Instagram.
The ‘Bapkiss’ star has been open about her desire to raise a family of her own for years. “[I’m]definitely a family-oriented person,” he told Kevin Hart on 2022’s “Hart to Hart.”
“My favorite thing, which I haven’t achieved yet, is that I want to have children,” the actor revealed, adding, “I’m so excited about that chapter.”
