It has been almost a year since Hulk Hogan passed away at the age of 71, and his death was ruled to be of natural causes.
The Clearwater, Florida, Police Department confirmed the investigation’s findings that the professional wrestler died of “natural causes” before officially closing the investigation on Friday, according to the Daily Mail.
The 72-page report also said, “Throughout the course of the investigation, there was no evidence of criminal activity in connection with his death.”
“After a thorough review of statements, medical records, surveillance footage from inside the residence, and a visual examination of Mr. Bollea’s body, there was no evidence that Mr. Terry Bollea’s death was due to anything other than natural causes,” investigators wrote, according to the newspaper.
In a statement, the Clearwater Police Department praised the Hogan family, including widow Skye Daly, children Nick Hogan and Brooke Hogan, and attorney Kevin Hayslett, for “willingly allowing investigators access to very personal information at a time of their grief and distress,” calling them “extremely helpful.”
They added: “Without their cooperation, there would have been no legal justification to obtain much of the information.”
Clearwater Police Department and representatives for Brooke, Nick and Skye did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
The WWE star, whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea, passed away on July 24, 2025, after collapsing at his Florida mansion and being taken to a local hospital.
Investigators reviewed audio recordings of the incident and interviewed witnesses, including the player’s occupational therapist, who was said to have been present when the player stopped breathing and tried to call for help, before initially determining that he suffered an acute myocardial infarction at his Florida home and died at a local hospital.
After a 911 call was made to the wrestler’s home, a therapist claimed Hogan was the victim of medical malpractice, and an occupational therapist allegedly claimed that a surgeon at the scene “severed” the WWE star’s phrenic nerve during a recent surgery, according to law enforcement sources at TMZ.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, the phrenic nerve is primarily responsible for breathing, and damage to it can cause serious breathing problems.
TMZ’s sources also claimed that the athlete suddenly stopped breathing during cardiac arrest and “didn’t have any chest tightness symptoms.”
However, during a subsequent police interview, the occupational therapist noted that he was “not a neurosurgeon” and that his interaction with Hulk was limited, as he had been employed by Hulk for only two weeks before his death.
An autopsy in July 2025 revealed that Hulk died of an acute myocardial infarction and had a history of atrial fibrillation and leukemia CLL.
In October 2025, the family filed a motion seeking an extension of the statute of limitations to complete the investigation of the medical malpractice claim.
His daughter Brooke previously expressed concern about the wrestler’s “strange” death.
In August 2025, the actress questioned her father’s leukemia diagnosis, telling Baba the Love Sponge at the time, “Cancer doesn’t run in our family. It seems strange.”
She later highlighted her “uncertainty” through an Instagram Story, saying “anyone” in her position “would want answers.”
She added at the time: “I don’t think anyone would think there was any suspicion of foul play, but the man had a very complicated medical history.”
