When it comes to Sidney Sweeney and Scooter Braun, love wins.
After watching the Knicks defeat the Spurs to win the NBA championship last Saturday, Brown gushed about his girlfriend Sydney Sweeney and dropped the L-word.
“Sid, I love you and your family so much,” Brown, 45, said in a video shared by his friend Stephen Rifkind aboard a private jet after the historic victory. “You are the biggest lucky charm ever for New York Knicks and Jets fans.”
The moment was the latest sign that the two were getting serious despite their 16-year age difference.
“They are very happy together,” a source close to the couple told Page Six. “They really enjoy each other.”
When they first started their relationship after meeting at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s wedding in Italy last June, Brown told friends that Sweeney was too young for anything more than a summer fling.
But it soon became much more than that. By September, a source told Page Six that the couple was “on their game and going full throttle… it’s not a casual relationship.” She added: “He’s picky about who he lets into his inner circle. If he’s with her, it’s not because of her looks or how famous she is, it’s because he really likes her.”
That same month, the pair were spotted on a date night with Sweeney’s parents at a Halloween event at Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles.
By November, they were spotted passionately making out in Central Park.
In April, the pair attended the season 3 premiere of Euphoria, in which Sweeney stars as the self-destructive and charming Cassie. In early May, Sweeney went Instagram official and shared a photo of her and Brown at the Stagecoach Music Festival.
“Weekend like a cowboy,” she captioned a photo of herself hugging Brown while wearing overalls, cowboy boots and sunglasses.
And earlier this month, Sweeney planned an elaborate surprise party for Brown’s 45th birthday. Warren G performed, and Jessica Alba, Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, and more were in attendance.
“She planned it for a month. The details she worked on were next level,” said a source close to the couple. “She called his family and friends, old friends and new, and asked them to invite (herself).”
Moments of compassion like this seem to characterize their relationship.
“It’s genuine support,” said a source close to the couple. “Neither one needs the other. There is no business relationship.”
The good times continued until the NBA Finals.
For Game 4, Sweeney surprised Brown, a longtime Knicks fan, by winning tickets in the same section as his father and brother.
“I couldn’t stop smiling,” Brown told the Post in an Instagram exchange after explaining why she didn’t sit on the floor.
The couple headed to San Antonio for Game 5, where Sweeney wore a corset-style top made from a Jalen Brunson jersey.
But it’s not all about Brown and his team. Earlier this month, Brown and Sweeney attended a pop-up for her lingerie company, Syrn, in Los Angeles.
And the music manager famous for discovering Justin Bieber and making him a huge star was a trusted advisor, a source close to the couple said. He has helped Sweeney through difficult times, including backlash against the American Eagle movement and questions about his political leanings.
“He is someone in her corner and someone she can turn to for advice and support,” they told Page Six.
But another source with close ties to Sweeney and his family is skeptical of Brown.
“He has the decision-making power. He is in charge,” the source said. “This is not who she really is. She usually keeps her personal life private.”
The source added: “Her career is obviously something she’s worked hard for. She’s this up-and-coming, beautiful, successful young woman.”
But a friend of Ms. Sweeney said that Mr. Brown was really helpful, giving her advice on career decisions and that she “needed him to get to the next level.”
Another source claimed that Sweeney has had the same team for many years and is “very independent.”
(The Post has contacted representatives for Mr. Sweeney and Mr. Brown.)
Either way, Sweeney has had a busy career. Sources close to Sweeney and Brown say it was recently announced that a fourth season of Euphoria will not be produced, allowing her to pursue more adult roles that could earn her an Oscar nomination.
“She became a big star thanks to ‘Euphoria’. She also appeared in other movies like ‘Christie’ and ‘The Housemaid’ which were big hits. And now she’s about to become an even bigger star,” they said.
Sweeney just announced his new production company, Honey Trap, which has a first-look deal with Sony Pictures. She has a good relationship with Sony, which distributed the hit romantic comedy “Anyone But You” with Glen Powell.
“We believe that the most unforgettable stories exist in contradictions: beauty and danger, intimacy and power, vulnerability and control,” the company’s mission statement reads.
She will also produce “The Registration,” based on the Madison Lawson thriller, for Sony.
Also scheduled is “What to Expect,” a historical drama about a Midwestern girl’s rise through the ranks of New York’s high society. An adaptation of “Hollow” that reimagines “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” and “I Pretended To Be A Missing Girl,” a psychological thriller in development at Warner Bros.
She recently finished filming Custom of the Country, based on Edith Wharton’s novel, and is filming Gundam in Australia. Her first foray into science fiction, the film is a live-action adaptation of the Japanese anime series from Netflix and Legendary Pictures. Sweeney is producing and starring alongside Noah Centineo.
Meanwhile, “The Housemaid’s Secret,” the sequel to the 2025 sleeper hit “The Housemaid,” is scheduled to hit theaters next year.
She was also scheduled to play Kim Novak in Colman Domingo’s directorial debut, Scandalous!, about the relationship between Novak and Sammy Davis Jr., but production has stalled and Novak has expressed concerns about Sweeney’s casting.
But it doesn’t matter.
A source close to the couple said: “Despite what people say on social media, she is doing well.”
