Hamptons Film has announced its annual SummerDocs series, which includes a lineup that includes Alex Gibney’s The Knife and Amir Barev’s The Last First: Winter K2.

The 18th installment of the series is being held in partnership with Guild Hall. Gibney’s film opens the series on Saturday, June 27th. The lineup also includes the HBO original documentary “The Lion Queen,” directed by Alden Nassar and Ben Frees, which will be released on Saturday, August 1st. The series concludes with Apple Original Films’ The Last First: Winter K2. Hamptons Film Chief Creative Officer David Nugent and Co-Chairman Alec Baldwin will lead a post-screening conversation with filmmakers.

“Now in its 18th year, our SummerDocs series continues to shine a spotlight on compelling films that challenge, inspire and engage audiences, and our 2026 lineup is no exception,” said David Nugent, Chief Creative Officer, Hamptons Film. “These films have already received a great response from audiences and we are excited to bring them to East End audiences this summer.”

Inspired by acclaimed author Salman Rushdie’s memoir, The Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder, The Knife chronicles not only the author’s physical rehabilitation from the attack, but also how he kept his spirits up. Gibney will be present for a post-screening conversation.

“The Lion Queen” follows Jocelyn Wildenstein, often referred to in the media as “Catwoman,” as she becomes a tabloid darling in the ’90s. Producer Caroline Barron will also be joining in the post-screening conversation.

The Last First: Winter K2 follows a team of mountaineers as they attempt to make the first winter ascent of K2, the second highest mountain on Earth, in 2021. Mr. Barlev will be present for a post-screening conversation.

The series also features the work of filmmakers such as Maite Alberdi, Fisher Stevens, Rory Kennedy, Rachel Grady, Heidi Ewing, Davis Guggenheim, Andrew Rossi, Daniel Loher, Chiemi Karasawa, Morgan Neville, Marina Zenovic, Louis Psihoyos, Steve James, Ian Bohote, and Peter Etedgui. All screenings begin at 7pm at Guild Hall.

Hamptons Film also announced the return of its free outdoor screening series featuring a classic crowd-pleasing lineup that will be shown on Wednesday nights throughout the summer. This season’s movie releases include Mamma Mia! “The Biggest Little Farm” at Main Beach (July 8), “The Biggest Little” at Amber Waves Farm” (July 15th), “Home Alone” at Herrick Park (July 22nd), “Wall-E” at Longhouse Reserve (August 5th), “Coco” in partnership with Ola at Herrick Park (August 12th), and “Jaws” at Main Beach (August 19th).

The SummerDocs series is sponsored by Luminara Alcohol-Removed Wines and E2AC. The free outdoor screening series is sponsored by Serhant with support from NYSCA (New York State Council on the Arts).

Tickets for individual screenings of the 2026 SummerDocs series are now available to purchase on the Guild Hall website. Hamptons Film members receive discounts on tickets.
