Beau Starr, who appeared in “Goodfellas” and several “Halloween” movies, has died at the age of 81.
His brother Mike Starr told TMZ on Saturday that Beau died “peacefully of natural causes” on April 24 in Vancouver, Canada.
Mike, who is also an actor, said Beau was “a very unique and special person.” He also revealed that Beau was a huge influence on him and even raised him with his parents.
Christopher Cerrone, who played young Henry Hill, Bo’s father on Goodfellas, paid tribute to him via Instagram on Saturday.
“It is with great sadness that I come here to inform you all that Beau Starr has passed away,” he wrote, noting that Mike had asked him to “make the announcement.”
“Beau enjoyed a rich (and) meaningful life,” the statement continued. “He was a son, brother, father, grandfather, actor, and NFL/CFL player. Please take a moment to remember a great man. Rest in Peace.”
Born in New York City in 1944, he initially began his career as an athlete, playing three seasons on the New York Jets’ practice squad and completing two seasons with the Montreal Alouettes and Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League.
He began his acting career in 1980 with the American Theater of Actors’ play “The Setup,” and starred in 1980s television series such as “True Blue” and the comedy sketch show “Rituals.”
His best-known television role was as Lt. Harding Welsh of the Chicago Police Department on the 90’s TV show “Due South.”
The actor has guest starred on hit series such as “NYPD Blue,” “TJ Hooker,” “The A-Team,” “Hill Street Blue,” “Knight Rider” and “V: The Series.”
Beau first appeared on screen in 1982’s Hanky Panky, alongside actors Gilda Radner and Gene Wilder.
He also appeared in the 1987 comedy film Summer School, Martin Scorsese’s masterpiece Goodfellas, and 2005’s Cinderella Man.
He is also popular for his back-to-back appearances in the classic horror series “Halloween 4” and “Halloween 5.”
