Christopher Abbott spoke for the first time about his partner Aubrey Plaza’s pregnancy on Monday’s “Today” show.
The “Girls” alum, 40, gushed about the “very exciting” news after Jenna Bush Hager brought up the topic.
“Can I say congratulations?” asked the latter. “You’re expecting a baby, aren’t you?”
The actor, who plays Biff Loman in the Broadway revival of Death of a Salesman, quipped, “I thought it was Tony’s name!”
Mr Abbott clarified that he was “joking” and joked that he had “too much going on” in his life.
Last month, news broke that he and Plaza had welcomed a little girl, due in the fall.
“This was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year,” a source told People magazine in April, referring to Plaza’s husband Jeff Baena’s suicide in January 2025.
The source added that the “Parks and Recreation” alum and Mr. Abbott feel “so blessed” to be able to start a family.
The actress confirmed her pregnancy on an episode of her podcast “SmartLess” the following week.
“I have a baby inside me right now,” she said at the time. “I’ve always wanted to see what it is.
“I think it’s all very interesting,” Plaza continued about parenting.
The comedian continued to talk about her pregnancy during the press tour for “Kevin,” but has yet to say anything about her romance with Abbott.
The two first became romantically involved in the summer of 2025.
The two will co-star in Off-Broadway’s “Danny and the Deep Blue Sea” in 2023, and met three years earlier on the set of “Black Bear.”
At the time, Plaza was married to Baena, and they tied the knot in 2021 after 10 years of dating.
The former couple separated in September 2024, and the director died by suicide four months later.
Plaza addressed the “terrible” tragedy on Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast in August 2025, saying that despite her “daily struggle” with grief, she was “functional” and “so grateful to be able to move through the world.”
