George Takei needed help from her husband Brad Takei to walk during a rare public sighting in Los Angeles last Thursday.
In a photo obtained by Page Six, the 88-year-old “Star Trek” actor is seen using a cane and holding onto his longtime partner’s hand.
George wore a navy blue down jacket over a white zip-up sweatshirt and gray sweatpants during his outdoor walk.
Brad, 72, wore a more formal outfit, opting for a beige blazer and purple button-down shirt tucked into blue pants.
George married a former financial journalist (real name Brad Altman) in 2008, but they have been together since 1985.
In 2024, George revealed the secret of the couple’s successful marriage.
“He keeps making me laugh and he keeps making me angry, and I think that’s why we share these feelings,” the actor told People.
George also said that the two were “polar opposites,” noting that Altman was a “strict disciplinarian.”
“Brad is detail-oriented and organized, and he brings that detail and organization into my life so I can do what I need to do,” the “Heroes” alum said.
George had been dating Brad for nearly 20 years at the time, but didn’t come out as gay until 2005, making his decision known in an interview with USA Today last year.
“I feel so liberated,” George said. “There’s no need to be wary. Mentally box yourself in and say what you want to say, but don’t expose yourself.”
She added: “I’ve developed that skill and now I don’t need it. I can be open and direct.”
George also admitted that before coming out, he didn’t feel like he could be his “whole self.”
“Here I am defending my job, my career, and what I want to do, while others with the same differences as me are sacrificing all of that to actively engage with the larger society and make progress,” he told the outlet.
Brad has consistently supported George and his career throughout their relationship.
In fact, Brad legally changed his last name from Altman to Takei in 2013.
“I had an argument with him about it,” George recalled to Access Hollywood.
George suggested hyphenating the names, but Brad said, “It feels like Takei.”
