Over the years, Tom Hardy has reportedly clashed several times on set with A-list stars such as Charlize Theron and Shia LaBeouf.
In May 2026, the “Venom” actor was fired from the Paramount+ series “Mobland” after two seasons. The reason for the cancellation was reportedly Hardy’s anger at another star while on the set of the series.

charlize theron
Hardy co-starred with Charlize Theron in the 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road.
Staff members reportedly said the “legendary” actor was difficult to work with on set. Camera operator Mark Gernicht also alleges an incident between Hardy and the “Monster” actress in a book about the production.
In director Kyle Buchanan’s Blood, Sweat, and Chrome: The Wildest True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road, Gernicht claims that Hardy arrived three hours late on set one day, which infuriated Theron and she confronted Hardy about being late.
“I vividly remember that day. The call to the set was at 8 o’clock. Charlize arrived promptly at 8 o’clock and sat in her war rig, knowing that Tom would never be on set at 8 o’clock, despite Tom’s specific request to arrive on time,” Gernicht recalled.
“He was notorious for not showing up on time in the morning. Even if the call time was in the morning, forget it. He never showed up,” he added.
“Tom still didn’t come by nine o’clock. ‘Charlize, do you want to get out of War Rig and walk around or…’ ‘No, I’m going to stay here.’ She was really trying to stake her claim. She didn’t go to the bathroom, she didn’t do anything. She just sat in the war machine.”
Gernicht claimed that Theron had been sitting in Warrig for three hours when Hardy finally showed up.
“She jumped out of the War Rig and started yelling insults at him, saying, ‘You have to pay a $100,000 fine for every minute you spend on this crew member.’ ‘How disrespectful!'” Gernicht recalled.
“She was right. It was a complete rant. She was screaming so loud and it was so loud and it was so windy that he might have heard some of it, but he lunged at her and said, ‘What did you say to me?'” he claimed.
Gernicht claimed that Hardy was “pretty aggressive” and that Theron “felt really threatened.” The “Apex” actress then asked for “someone to protect her” and was assigned a producer who was with her at all times.
“It had gotten to a point where it got out of hand in some ways, and there was a sense that maybe if we brought in a female producer, it might even out some, because I didn’t feel safe,” Theron said in the book.
Shia LaBeouf
Hardy co-starred with Shia LaBeouf in the 2012 film Lawless.
There were rumors that the “Transformers” star knocked out Hardy on the set of the movie.
LaBeouf disputed the rumors, telling Hot Ones host Sean Evans that he and Hardy were just living a rough life and wrestling for the sport.
“Yes, a herd of bulls,” he said. “We used to wrestle all the time, and he was a big asshole, especially back then. He was getting ready to play Bane[in The Dark Knight Rises].”
The “Halls” star said Hardy “told everyone I knocked him out.”
However, director John Hillcoat seemed to admit that the two actors fought and had to be restrained.
“There was definitely a fight between them,” Hillcoat told Collider.
“It escalated to the point where we both had to be restrained. But I was very happy to hear that didn’t happen because I don’t want to see any consequences.”
patrick stewart
In the 2002 film Star Trek: Nemesis, Hardy played Shinzon, a clone of Human Starfleet Captain Jean-Luc Picard (played by Patrick Stewart).
Stewart wrote about his interactions with Hardy in his 2023 memoir, Making It So.
“There wasn’t a single exciting scene, and the actor who played the film’s villain, Shinzon, was an eccentric, lonely young man from London. His name was Tom Hardy,” Stewart wrote.
“Tom didn’t interact with any of us on a social level. He didn’t say ‘good morning,’ he didn’t say ‘good night,’ and he spent time with his girlfriend in the trailer that wasn’t required on set,” he claimed.
Hardy, on the other hand, claimed to have been “terrified” on the set.
“You can’t hide it. The camera will pick it up,” he told Total Film in 2014.
“I was really at a loss. Everything was, ‘How can I do this?'” I took it very seriously. ”
helen mirren
In May 2026, it was reported that Hardy was fired from the Paramount+ series Mobland after two seasons.
Sources tell Variety that the Peaky Blinders alum was removed from the show following “on-set issues” with executive producer Jez Butterworth and 101 Studios.
Pac News reports that Hardy was consistently late to production during season two, frequently writing notes on the script, changing lines, and becoming angry with the ensemble cast, which included fellow A-list actors Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.
A source told the Daily Mail that Hardy is said to have berated Mirren for the way she behaved on set.
“Tom’s character is charming. He’s a gentle person, but when the cameras stop he’s the complete opposite. Dame Helen is fun. She’s a total professional and has worked with so many people over the years,” a source claimed.
At one point, sources claimed that the “Queen” actress was spotted playing games on her cell phone when Hardy was supposed to be elsewhere.
“She is becoming increasingly frustrated with Tom and his attitude,” a source claimed to the Daily Mail. “He is sometimes late for filming, which is a nuisance to Dame Helen, who is very professional and disciplined. His tone, along with his tardiness, is something Dame Helen doesn’t like.”
Sources claimed that Hardy “struts like a king” on set and is “very, very arrogant.”
