Variety exclusively reports that four new actors have been added to guest roles in the HBO Max pilot “How to Survive Without Me.”
Kevin Changaris (Succession), Presley Hosbach (Erin & Aaron), Dar Zuzofsky (Vanished), and Sofia Rodriguez-Toymil are attached to the pilot.
They join previously announced cast members: Ray Romano, Joshua Jackson, Kaley Cuoco, Julia Schlaepfer, Jacques Ball, Kyler Miranda, Julianne Gray, Scarlett Abinante, Tommy Dewey, Matthew Kerrison, Colette Poarch, Ella Rubin, and Rita Wilson. Previously announced guest cast members include Genevieve Angelson, Joe Romano, Richard Blackmon, Katie Aselton, Katie Monds, and Will Yun Lee.
“Logline: In the wake of matriarch Beverly (Wilson)’s death, the DeAngelis family begins to drift, unsure how to manage their complex and evolving lives without her guidance, but in true Beverly fashion, she finds a way to keep running the show from the other side. If they want to experience Beverly’s final work, the family must find the time, stay connected, and make an effort to be there for each of them.”The other thing is to get through all of life’s challenges that are coming. ”
Changaris will play Todd Henderson. Todd is “one of Kate’s (Cuoco) clients, a golf-tanned entertainment lawyer who thinks he’s having fun. Todd claims to be happily married, but he’s secretly in love with Liz (Schlaepfer).”
Hosbach will play Madison. She is said to be “polite and punctual, Madison is the nanny to Kaylee (Ball) and Luis (Miranda)’s children. She makes a strong first impression, but has unrealistic expectations that cannot account for the children’s unpredictable behavior.”
Zuzofsky plays Maya. The character is described as “Cute and flirtatious, Maya casually becomes involved with Cooper (Jackson), who is also a chef at the restaurant where she works as a waitress. Despite their relationship being considered taboo, Maya’s perceptiveness allows her to understand Cooper in surprising ways.”
Rodriguez-Toymir will play Zara, a “millionaire pop star but financially illiterate who is one of Leo (Ray Romano) and Cary’s business management clients.”
Changaris is represented by 3 Arts. Mr. Hosbach is repped by Arise Talent and Slash Management. Zuzowski is repped by Markham, Froggatt, Irwin, Principal Entertainment and Goodman Genow. Rodriguez-Toymil is repped by Principal Entertainment.
“How to Survive Without Me” is by authors Greg Berlanti and Bash Dolan, with a story written by Berlanti, Dolan, and Robbie Rogers. Berlanti, Dolan and Rogers are all executive producers on the pilot along with Sarah Schechter and Lee London Redman of Berlanti Productions. The studio will be WBTV, which has an overall contract with Berlanti Productions.
