“I’m sure many of you are used to missing calls from your family and being alone in a dark room,” comedian Morgan Jay told the crowd at last night’s drunken and spirited Golden Trailer Awards host in Los Angeles before handing out party favors. “I brought Zyns and Celsius to make everyone more comfortable.”
The 26th annual ceremony recognized the year’s best feature film, television, digital and print campaigns. The ceremony, held at the swanky Saban Theater in Beverly Hills, was hosted by Jay, known to his 10 million TikTok followers for his viral videos of his expert crowd work using self-adjusting microphones. Even before the ceremony began, the party was in full swing as hundreds of editors gathered at the open bar. “This is so much more fun than Crios,” one participant said before chugging an IPA.
And the chaos didn’t stop in the lobby, where I was offered a beer three times by an usher within 15 minutes of the show starting. Halfway through the ceremony, the bartender began carrying a drink cart down the aisle. “Let’s listen at the open bar,” presenter Kate Flannery told the crowd (to loud cheers).

Given the recent dark news, you can’t blame people in the industry for trying to cut back. One editor-designated trailer park editor saw a line of seat fillers outside and quipped, “I wonder if they’re going to take over the trailer park seats,” referring to a well-known movie marketing company that recently closed its movie trailer division.
But the show moved at a surprisingly fast pace, with not a single speech longer than 20 seconds. (Adrien Brody could take notes.)
“Project Hail Mary” emerged as the big winner of the night, taking home trophies for Best Drama, Best Fantasy/Adventure, Best Music and Best Show (complete with a little golden trailer above it).
