Select episodes of the pioneering true crime documentary series Forensic Files will soon be available in vertical format for viewing on smartphones.

Content Partners LLC, which owns the rights to “Forensic Files,” has signed a licensing agreement with microdrama streamer GammaTime to adapt the documentary for mobile-first platforms. GammaTime will present a “curated collection of 15 of Forensic Files’ most fascinating cases,” according to a company release.

“Forensic Files,” created, narrated and executive produced by Paul Dowling, aired for 14 seasons and more than 400 episodes from 1996 to 2011. It started on TLC, moved to Court TV in 2000, and then to TruTV for its final season. In 2020, the revival series Forensic Files II premiered and ran for four seasons until 2023. Episodes of “Forensic Files” detail how forensic science is used to solve violent crimes and other difficult cases.

GammaTime was founded in 2025 with $14 million in funding, along with notable investors including Alexis Ohanian and Kris Jenner. The library of vertical content focuses specifically on the true crime genre.

“Forensic files are the gold standard of true crime,” GammaTime’s Bill Block said in a statement. “The tightly structured storytelling and impactful development of each episode makes it perfectly suited for vertical viewing on GammaTime, delivering a complete and engaging true crime story in a mobile-first format.”

“GammaTime is a great partner for extending forensic files into the vertical domain,” added Content Partner Scott Hemming. “Bill and the team have a deep understanding of this format and a genuine passion for true crime, and we are thrilled to be working with them to bring this major flagship series to new audiences in an innovative way.”
