Diners who witnessed Britney Spears’ “outburst” at a Los Angeles restaurant have detailed the pop star’s “wild” night.
In an exclusive interview with Page Six, Jeff Snyder recalled arriving at Blue Dog Tavern in Sherman Oaks with a friend around 7pm Pacific time on a Wednesday night. Shortly after, a woman “wearing sunglasses” and two of her friends walked in, but he didn’t immediately recognize them as the Princess of Pop.
“The woman sat there and continued to make booping noises, barking noises, and verbal abuse,” the complaint said Thursday.
“It wasn’t until she took off her sunglasses that we realized, ‘Oh, this is Britney Spears.'”
Snyder, who has been an entertainment reporter for 20 years, claimed that Spears “continued to move around, standing and sitting inside the restaurant.”
He also claimed that at one point when she stood up, she “forgot to put down the silverware” and may have been holding a knife.
“I received no threats or anything,” he clarified. “But when she finally left, I looked back and thought, ‘Gosh, that was crazy!'” to the entire section. ”
Snyder said one of the women sitting with him feared for her safety, saying of Spears: “She came at me with a knife. I thought she was going to stab me.”
Snyder said she doesn’t believe the Grammy winner had any violent intentions, but “he was definitely a nuisance sitting next to her at dinner.”
He also claimed that two other people at Spears’ party “attempted to return her to her seat” throughout the dinner, but were unsuccessful.
“They definitely tried their best to figure her out, but she was clearly a handful,” he claimed.
Snyder did not see Spears, who had just finished rehab treatment, drinking alcoholic beverages at the restaurant.
At one point, he said, Spears “lighted a cigarette inside the restaurant,” and a staff member told one of the people she was with to put it out.
As for what the superstar ate, Snyder claimed he “nibbled” on burgers and fries and that he and his bodyguard “feed each other fries.”
“I never had the impression that they were asked to leave,” he said, but claimed there was “a lot of food left on the table and under the table” and that Spears “definitely made a mess.”
“She was not feeling well last night and it was difficult for my friend and I to carry on a conversation.”
On Thursday, Spears’ representatives dropped claims that his client may have posed any danger during the alleged episode.
“This is completely out of proportion. Britney was enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistants and bodyguards. All she was saying was that her dog was barking at her neighbor,” her rep said in a statement to Page Six on Thursday.
“She never used a knife to endanger anyone,” they continued. “She was cutting the hamburger in half.”
On Thursday morning, TMZ reported that the singer was “raising his voice, screaming and at times even barking” during a “chaotic” scene during a meal Wednesday night.
Spears reportedly dined at the restaurant with a woman and a man. At one point, a patron at the restaurant told TMZ that the singer walked past a table with a knife, raising concerns that he might harm someone with the sharp tool.
Page Six reached out to Blue Dog Tavern for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
This alarming news comes just a month after Spears entered rehab after being arrested for drunk driving in March. She was seen for the first time on April 30th after completing her rehabilitation stay.
Shortly after her return, a source told Page Six that the “Slave 4 U” songstress is “doing great” and “excited for a new start.”
“Rehab was a great opportunity for her to ground herself,” the source said.
