The co-parenting trap.
Dennis Quaid and ex-wife Kimberly Buffington reunited Wednesday at their son Thomas’ high school graduation.
Although the former couple sat separately at the ceremony in Los Angeles, they appeared united as they posed for photos with the 18-year-old graduate and her twin sister Zoe.
Buffington, 54, wore a cream-colored top and skirt set for the event, while her ex-spouse, 72, wore a suit appropriate for the event.
The actor, who spoke at the graduation ceremony, attended with his wife Laura Savoie, whom he married in 2020.
The statement came a week after Page Six confirmed Quaid’s motion to terminate Buffington’s child support payments.
In court documents in May, the “Day After Tomorrow” star said his 2018 divorce agreement stated that payments would end when Thomas and Zoe finished their senior year of college.
The latter in particular graduated on May 23rd.
Representatives for the Golden Globe nominee did not respond to Page Six’s request for comment at the time.
Quaid previously sought a reduction in child support in 2020, but the amount was to be increased “based on Thomas and Zoe’s reasonable needs.”
In addition to the teens, the Emmy nominee is the father of “The Boys” actor Jack Quaid, with whom he lives with his second wife, Meg Ryan.
He and the How Harry Met Sally star, 64, both attended his son’s wedding to Claudia Dumit in Australia in April.
Following Quaid’s first marriage to actress PJ Soles, the ex-lovers were married from 1991 to 2001, but their five-year marriage ended in divorce in 1983.
As for his marriage to Buffington, Quaid married the real estate agent in 2004, welcomed twins as a surrogate in 2007, and after several separations, they finally announced their divorce in 2016.
Their divorce was finalized in 2018.
Quaid and his fourth wife have a 39-year age difference, but the Far From Heaven star denied it in a 2019 interview with the Guardian.
“I don’t care about that at all,” he insisted, denying that he went “looking for” young women. “You can’t control who you like. … You can’t let everything be dictated by what a few people think.”
